Bans for posting screenshots
Why get banned for posting screenshots? The game is allowed in Steam, the age limit is set to 18+, I put a spoiler, BUT I was banned 2 times!

I played the game Lust from Beyond and the Steam moderation banned me from sweating screenshots.
I wrote to Steam support and they answered me that everything was fine and the ban was not removed.
Why is that? The game is allowed, but the screenshots from it are not?
Absurd .

I have a history of correspondence.

Here are links to screenshots from the game. But they will not be seen by users, but only by moderators.

Did you use a patch to enable adult contents, and then uploaded those adult screenshots by any chance? Because that is a huge no no.

Simple reasoning: the b00bs weren't in the game as it's been released on Steam, thus such screenshots aren't allowed. Because they're adult in nature and do not match the game.

This is why I dislike "adult" games which aren't set as adult on Steam, but instead the publisher provides a dumb patch or something. Blame the dumb publisher / developers for that nonsense, not Steam.

You're wrong. The game has featured nudity since its release! No mods or patches.

Then what screenshots did you make and how did you upload them? Because I can't help be convinced that there's something you're not telling us.

You could hide your screenshot, wait a few days, and then unhide it. Because if they see it, it may get reported. But if you wait a few days, many screenshots will be posted on top of it from other people, and then they can't see it, and can't take offense in it.

Also, maybe your friends just disgree with it, and you're simply being reported by your friends. In that case, we can't do anything to help you.

No. If you make screenshots of a game contents as its been released on Steam then you won't get banned for uploading those, as long as you make sure to be using the game hub. So... uploading screenshots made with the Steam client while using said Steam client to upload.

Because as long as it remains on the hub then it will be tagged as adult content and thus filtered, even on your profile when you use a showcase to display it.

Have you decided to accept the absurd game? OK, here's a screenshot. See the red mark?
Screenshot banned. Nobody can see him but me.
Here is a screenshot. There are naked bodies!

And here is a link to a screenshot. But you won't see him

I can confirm that this actually is a thing. At the beginning when Adult Only games where entirely banned in Germany I started some silent protesting by posting screenshots (but with spoilers active) from respective games as a satire to Valves "absolutely sufficient age checks".

I did not modify anything. I did not upload them as Artworks or as injected Screenshots. Plain F12 -> Upload to Cloud. Nothing else. I was temp banned from uploading Screenshots and my Screenshots were removed (obviously)

PS: One of the games I was banned for was LEWDAPOCALYPSE
https://steamdb.info/app/1271710/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1271710/

PPS: I am not upset about it. I took the ban and sat out my downtime. I was expecting it; Period. But it is a thing and it is ridiculous that you can be banned for using Steam functions really

You should remove that link asap as it's not filtered and exposes readers to such contents. This is exactly the thing I explained earlier which can land you into trouble.

Community areas are different from store areas I believe - that's why they will ban for it when publicly posted, even if it's from a game they sell.

ok, i deleted it. but have you seen it? yes, the picture is for adults. but it's from a legal game
AustrAlien2010 Feb 2, 2022 @ 1:19am
Well, it is only a screenshot of something that is not real. So, whatever it was, it should not matter anyway. But for certain people, it could be against their own rules maybe? And you still have to respect their rules, if you send it to them.

Unless the screenshot is uploaded using the appropriate hub it will be moderated. It does not matter that the game is tagged adult only if you post UGC in the wrong place it will be bopped.

What means "appropriate hub "?
pressed f12 and downloaded via Steam client. What did you mean?

blteam? So not the Steam client? Because that explains a thing or two.

Not on mobile anymore so now I can explain a bit better: uploading screenshots of adult games should only be done using the Steam client; so you open your screenshot section, find the right game (and screenshot) and then you upload those. This will allow you to share them but only using the link in the screenshot section or using a showcase on your profile.

This is a big deal because this way the screenshot ends up on the gamehub (in their screenshots section) and thus it gets filtered. So anyone who didn't enable adult games wouldn't get to see it. due to Steams filtering.

I am convinced that this is also the cause of some of the issues because well... I also play adult games from time to time, also have friends who do the same thing and we all also upload naughty pics every once in a while. Yet none of us has ever been banned for this, but I am aware of others who did because they either didn't use the Steam methodology for uploading or... used a patch to enable the adult stuff, then uploaded those screenshots. But Steam itself is quite lenient here, as long as you make sure to follow the rules.

It was a typo. Not a team, but Steam
