Any word can become offensive. Our languages have evolved throughout the years as we've defined new words and redefined existing ones.

And just because a word is filtered out on Steam doesn't necessarily mean it's because it's offensive. There are a few words and phrases that are filtered out due to other reasons.

Turn off the filter if it bothers you.

It was probably used offensively already so it had to be censored. I prefer my corn served with chopped red peppers and poblano next to mashed potatoes.

I remember there was a one off south park character named nibblet. I used to wonder how they came up with that name. I was not familiar with the jolly green giant product.

and uh, I just checked. I have the filter shut off, but nibblet becomes hearts.

I love the person in here claiming words aren't words because their physical dictionary doesn't contain it.

How old's your dictionary? Niblet is definitely a word.

Its updated regulary.
OP you can go into your Preferences, scroll down to the "chat filtering" and change your setting to how you'd like them.

I am fine with what those at Valve want to filter (or mis-filter) since we all have the ability to change our own filters and what we want to see or not. It would be completely different if we did not have this filter as I hate to see words filtered since they can't hurt people, they are only words. It's the context behind them that is the real problem and how they are used.

But OP words have completely different meanings in other areas of the world and languages so you'll need to get used to that and having words filtered when you think they shouldn't.

I agree, anything can technically become a word because people give it context even if it's not in a dictionary. On top of that, all languages/words change over time and all the time.

In what language? Niblets is definitely a word used in most grocery stores in the US as a type of canned corn.

A weebo is someone obsessed by Japanese culture, it's not a "racist slur" in the slightest. It's like saying the word "metal head" is a racist slur.
