Forum moderators abusing powers is the norm on Steam.
Yesterday i bought Mordhau and posted some messages on the forum, nothing toxic at all, after playing for some time i refunded it as the game was not for me.

Some hours later i receive this.

You have been banned from MORDHAU Community Hub
You have been banned from MORDHAU Community Hub by a forum moderator for your post in "is the game worth it?":

If a game can't balance weapons it can never be great, both chivalry and mordhau struggles with it, i don't play games where people can get away with exploiting.

Ban Reason:

Misinformation, you don't own the game

While this ban is active, you will not be able to post or comment in the MORDHAU Community Hub or upload new content to this community hub.

If you believe this ban was issued by mistake, please contact Steam Support.

This is a permanent ban.

But i did own the game when i posted these messages and i can prove that,. while the moderator may not have known there is no excuse for banning people for not owning a game, you failed to do your job and more importantly you abused your status.

And if you rely on steam support to sort out these matters you will be disappointed when you receive a copy paste bot response on how you should resolve it with the abuser.

Valve and the developers have no reason to care about such matters, worse they might even encourage their moderators to do this.

reply to the ban notice and explain politely what happened or contact steam support. the game hubs are run by the game developers. if you feel a game hub moderator has abused their power, contact that games developer since they are the one that assigned the moderator.

and looking at what you posted that got you in trouble, there wasnt anything there except a rant. next time, try posting something constructive, what you posted looks more like a trolling attempt

I have tried that, they usually never repond after that.

If you refunded regardless of a rant which is not justifiable in itself to issue a ban, then having refunded of course it won't show you own the game so an ill informed ban happy mod is going to hit you for sure.

Contest the ban via steam support,, if you owned the game it will likely be overturned. Assuming they actually look into it beyond if you do or do not own the game currently.

those are your options. its either reply politely to the ban notice (they are not required to respond) or contact steam support (they will review it and make a decision). discussions about forum moderation are not allowed on the forums. this is an issue between you and that forums moderator(s)

Oh, of course it's not we wouldn't want the truth about them to get out would we? that's also why they don't mention their names, they literally support this nonsense.

Someone who's just blindly banning innocent people does not deserve polite replies, you are treated the way you treat others, it may be a good idea to remember that.

A sample size of one does not demonstrate a “norm.” :messagebottle:

There are surprisingly quite a few places you’ve posted without, AFAIU, getting banned.

... I wouldn't respond to insults either, to be honest.

Did you try leaving a review? If you write a review before you refund (not sure if you can do so after you refund) then you can post that as proof you owned the game.

You can also make your profile public and show you have time played (Not sure how far past the two weeks the counting goes though).

Names are not mentioned to avoid retaliation by users. The developer and Steam Support can can see who issued the ban and do as they feel is needed.

It's fine i'm moving away from American paltforms anyway, they're not worth it banning people for not owning a game, what kind of imbecile does that.

Time to move on a european client GOG, i know i will get my support there.

Both were suggested as ways to show you owned the game to the hub moderator who issued the ban.

I will do that now thanks. Done i don't expect them to reply back.

I was thinking about buying the game again that's why i saw the ban in the forum, but with a banned community, no thanks i'm not buying anything.

Except you werent trying to get support, you were complaining about a game and it sounds like the mod made a mistake and thought you were trolling, which is why the bans tell you how to respond

Steam support does reply to appeals. I know, I recently had a ban revoked.

Always be polite and include the proper info when doing so.

Also keep in mind that on GoG people also get banned. I know people who have been permanently banned from the forums.

A mistake, you call banning people for not owning a game a mistake, that is almost funny if it wasn't sad.

Here is my proof look at the date.
