Its shameful how unstable steam store is I constantly getting E502 L3
I got error E502 L3 for most of the day today. It's shameful how popular IT company can't handle their internet connection properly. Including the client and webpage.

It would be shameful if it were repeated and untouched.
That is not the case.

It's simply problems you WILL get with online services, and sadly the more popular you are, the worse it's likely to get too.

Valve have been working on back end stuff recently so it might be part of their own fault, but it could equally just be servers playing up and you can't do much about that except have regular maintenance (which they do).

Thing is, you have to remember a few things - we're still in lockdown thanks to the coronavirus for many regions in the world. For the northern hemisphere we're also in the midst of winter. So in recent weeks the load has been pretty intense.

yep between more traffic and winter it can be a lot on even internet providers.
It seems like the issue started a few weeks ago. Even if I don't get "E502 L3", the steam store page as well as forums take longer than usual to load. Even weirder still is how the forums often get "bugged" - steam user names suddenly disappear and are replaced by random numbers(which I assume are steam ids) instead.

I initially assumed the issues were due to load from during the lunar sale but the issue has persisted even though the sale is now over.

The number issue has worsened recently and in the last few hours it seems everybody is getting it, which suggests to me the issue was high up the chain and has propgated out on servers across the world (I'm guessing mind).

The thing is to not assume and chuck all these problems together. They could be completely separate.

There IS the congestion issue - that's been affecting all sorts of people especially in things like inventories in CSGO, from what I understand. But there's also the backend work Valve have been doing over recent weeks.

Every time they do their weekly maintenance (Tuesday evenings) they've been changing something, which is commonly how you do updates when you change things en masse. Sometimes it breaks.

So it could just be a whole host of issue simultaneously manifesting.

I know that doesn't help much, but it can lead to understanding the scope of things.
