VAC is INCREDIBLY reliable. What they mean is they don't know why they got it. That's the point - VAC time delays bans so you will likely never remember which cheat caused it.
But they most certainly DID do something. Errors have happened in the past and they quickly get fixed, so if it still persists, then you can rest assured they did something.
And I'm sure his "friend" will be swearing on his mother's life he never cheats and wouldn't know what cheats are.
We've seen it a million times before.
There's only two possible outcomes - if it's an error it gets fixed pretty quickly anyway. If it ain't an error, they're stuck and bang to rights and will have to live with it.
and you can't prove it does or doesn't do ANY of that. its a blind faith statement of belief.
People with VAC always have a reason and I personally believe most of them deserve it and their complaints about it mean nothing to me (because I'm not a cheater and have no worry about VAC).
These very forums and their history.
There have been demonstrable cases where mistakes happened and they were quickly recitified. Off the top of my head there were two incidients that I seem to remember where mistakes were made. One was to do with Call of Duty iirc.
But here's the thing - if it were NOT as realiable as all that we would be inundated with genuine claimants ALL OVER these forums, and we just do not see that.
Ergo, it can ONLY be as realiable as I stated.
You made a good point about if it were not reliable it simply wouldn't be used by others and that's VERY true.
WE as users muight only get limited data about how well VAC works or indeed how it works, and rightly so, but you can't fleece deves and publishers so easily. If they had instances of people getting unfairly banned, again we would hear about it as it would not only be on these fora but front page news on gaming press.
vac bans issued in error are not on accounts any longer because they are automatically removed.
the "stain" of a vac ban does not remain on those accounts.
Accounts are banned, not people - but the only reason an account ever gets banned is because a cheat was in play. Whether it was the owner of the account cheating, or someone else using it, or the rarer but present 'shared my phone number' with a cheater.
That is it. That's the sum total of 'why a vac shows up'. The incidence of those remarkably rare occasions of accidental vac is such a tiny portion of a percent of those accounts accurately banned, as to be meaningless to the overall numbers.
Fair point and thanks for clarifying.
>_> that's coming from someone who does point and laugh in the vac section. :)
Don't worry I got it.
I was just pointing out that the evidence is indeed right here in front of our faces from both perspectives.

I still have this image from when eram was still a Moderator. There was a dude who was posting me in the tf2 forums, linking to my profile saying im cheating in tf2. Because of the ban i had in another game, eram basically said what you see in the image, when i then told him that naming&shaming isnt allowed, and its his job to enforce those rules, he deleted that comment and blocked me, not taking any action against the person talking ♥♥♥♥ about me. When my friend asked about this situation, he deleted the entire conversation on his profile and blocked him aswell. A Day later Sillicon Vampire was kind enough to actually do something unlike like 3 other Moderators, one of them being eram.
