How to disable achievements?
I disable the steam overlay, but achievements still show on the userlist both by me and others. How do I disable achievements?

Why would you want to. You earned them suckers!

Not sure exactly what you're trying to ask, but in any case, I think you're out of luck for all the scenarios I can think of.

If you mean can you disable achievements and the earning thereof entirely, nope. You just have to ignore them. Thankfully this is easy to do.

If you mean can you stop the achievement popups happening, afaik this is still impossible too. I remember this being a talking point for some time, as other platforms have this feature. It might be a good idea if it were there, but again, afaik, it ain't. I just checked UI settings and still couldn't see it so safe to assume that's so.

Darn. Was hoping there was since the existence of achievements just bother me to no end and really worsen the experience of a game in some cases

At 99% of games you can erase achievements with SAM and start from nul

how does it help that person if their life is not enjoyable because they see achievements on Steam?

Thing is, this very much is a YOU problem.

On the whole having options that suit the experience for the majority of people is a fine thing. But this is too much - it's rather unreasonable.

Because you very much are in a tiny minority. YOU don't like achievements. Many don't. But all of those people simply ignore them, just like they will any mild pop ups on the internet as a whole or an ad or something. Because they're very much in the same mould.

But it's more than even that. What you're asking for is something that could affect others who ENJOY acheivements.

So sorry, but you're never going to be on a winner here. It really is a YOU problem.

I get it, if you're something like an aspie, you can get fixated on things and go to unreasonable lengths in that, but at least you'll recognise that's a you problem and try to work around it. I work with enough other disabled people to know that this very much is a thing.

If it really is bothering you, then try either training yourself to it - you could simply try visitng places online that have pop ups, like Youtube with banner ads. Or you could simply try some diversion such as placing something over that area of screen where the pop up appears.

Wrong, wrong, WRONG!
Firstly, the machine (in this case website or program) adjusts to the user. The user does NOT adjust to the machine.
Secondly, your statement that "What you're asking for is something that could affect others who ENJOY acheivements." (SIC) is erroneous. What the OP is asking for is A CHOICE, not an eradication.
having choices is beneficial to all users.
Thirdly, you say that you work with the disabled, after using the derogatory and insulting term "aspie". Since the terms of service and polite company prevent me from giving you a proper earful, let us just say that your sour attitude in this conversation is very unbecoming and it is my opinion that you owe the OP an apology for such a horrible reply.

Don't achievements add a certain amount of replayability?

Subjective. Certainly may do so for the people that want to get most or all of them.

Many people do not care about achievements at all though.

Huh, to each their own...

Yeah well, even if you manage to kill 10 enemies without touching the ground in your 2nd playthrough, or you finally hit the 10000 enemies killed -- it's still the same game with the same story as your first playthrough.

True, but I assumed that achievements would add more value to repetitive games such as Vampire Survivors.

Great game, but better with achievements.

Cool, demonstrate how that aspie is a derogatory term. I'm working of what suferers use themselves, so if it's wrong and you can prove it, I'll happily change it.

Personally I don't give a damn about derogatory terms, or insults in general; unfortunately Steam does care a lot.

Which may or may not end in a ban... you have been warned.
