i dont know where to find the steam key for counter strike 1 anthology

so i found this old cd laying around my room and i wanted to install it, but it asks for a steam key in order to play it. and i cannot find the key anywhere, could someone please help me?

CD keys come in the box.

It probably wouldn't work.
If it was part of the set published by Sierra, it won't.
But otherwise....
The key was usually printed/stickered on the cd sleeve

The old Sierra ones? They aren't Steam keys.

Sounds like you have a coaster. Without the CD key you don't actually have a game. That's assuming it's still valid. A lot of those old keys aren't supported anymore.

Outside of things like this we can't help you. As others have said, those old keys came with the game in the box or printed on the back of the manual. If you can't find it, it's toast.

And to make matters worse, ifit's an old Sierra key, that doesn't necessarily mean it works on Steam.

As Hotsauce said the keys that came with older title discs are not steam keys.

Normally the keys with game discs are installation keys and used to verify a legit version of a game.

Even if you had the key the game would have to be added to your steam library as a third party game and will not have achievements or steam cards activated.

They do not anymore, no. Valve stopped accepting Sierra keys ages ago.
