Nor is it particularly offensive.
Damn...is pretty mild in 2021. I know some Americans have a problem with it, but most of the rest of the world is fine with it.
at least for me
Most of the world is fine with the fecal word, too. In Britain it's even allowed on TV by now. Didn't hear it bleeped out for some time on the shows I watch at least.
In Germany "it's fine" for years even.
The biggest problem are those holier-than-you morale apostles who keep complaining about it and lead to self-censoring I don't think the general public gives a ♥♥♥♥ about it. Well, at least as long as "think about the children" isn't played out.
I lived right next to a primary school and had a playground within the block. Children used to cuss like sailors all the time. Mostly because it was cool to break the rules.
Primary school grounds have some proper high-quality swearing.
In Ireland, colourful language is your God-given right. We sprinkle it through every conversation like salt.
I also wonder if there are any words that are just on the brink of being censored but aren't as of now, for one or more reasons?
so why is the s word "offensive" or a "curse" word but crap isn't?
like when i say that Feature XY is s then its basically just a different word for "bad", maybe just a bit rougher. in modern language...
