scam alert
hay guys there is a new scam out there involving a fake steam ticket and the scammer trying to get you to sympathise with him to gain access to your account somehow.

they start buy leaving a msg on your screen shots asking you to contact them saying they have "accidently accused you"

i chomped on the bait cuz well i was bored. this is what i got

yeah thanks for notice me again
I know it's very irresponsible of me and have no excuse for what I did, I have to take responsibilities for what I did
I have mistaken you for someone else, I posted something in a market and a guy added me with the same pic and name to yours and i believe he was impersonating your account for some reason. Unfortunately i didnt get the chance to get his profile url so when i look it up again, thats why i saw that you have the same profile and i assume you were that guy and I even paid a group to massively report your account :/ I am worried that it will lead to any problems or any possible suspensions
gladly I got this notice so i thought I really needed to reach out and give you a heads up, so that we could avoid the possible suspension
(they post this image)
[removed]
i admit it, it was an honest mistake I dont want you to get banned so please help me to explain it to them

i stopped it then and there.

note the discord id in the screenshot. go say hello

Once a week? At least once a day.

Anything, but new it isn't.

New or old scams, it does not matter, the problem is that people still fall for them every day, even with the forums full of examples.

I was seeing 50-100 threads a day of this 'new' scam two years ago and it was oldish back then too.

there needs to be some sort of training for everyone..
via our ISPs or something to put these scammers out of action

You cannot train people out of basic elements of human psychology. Confidence games will remain viable for the foreseeable. :cleandino:

Impossible,.

If people here INVESTED in being on Steam can't read the very messages Valve put out, what hope do you think ANYONE is going to have reading an ISPs message?

That makes zero sense.

So telling gamers that PSAs about these scam issues being useless to post time and time again would be a similar exercise of futility, correct?

Better to just ignore them and let them fall to forum oblivion.
