People keep copy and pasting the same Steam reviews/copy pastas and It's sad.
I'm tired of people lying that their 83 year old gamers for up-votes and I'm tired of people copy and pasting this same joke: "Before I played (game name here), I had a small penis, no friends, no girlfriend, depression, and absolutely no life. These things haven't changed, but the game is pretty good." It always gets on the top of the reviews page and It's on every review page. I laughed the first time but now I see it on every page and at this point It's spam. Steam is becoming like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reddit now where people like the same joke on 5 different posts. Another one that I keep seeing are the reviews where people lie they have a terminal illness. I'm also tired of seeing gullible and lonely people who want attention copy and paste doge/shrek/bob (all the same, just different picture) just because someone said to do it. It's not funny anymore. It's old and annoying. Just stop. Please. This community... *Dies of ligma*

Report and move on. A PSA probably won’t change much. :messagebottle:

You might remove the user reference, as there’s a dim view of naming-and-shaming.

Yeah, I’m with you two, there.
This game saved my life.

I am [insert age].

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide.

After learning of the severity of my self-inflicted damage, I was borderline suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man with no history of depression or anxiety. I have never had fits of rage, or been one to break down and cry, but I was in a low spot that just really buried me from being able to see the light on the other side.

Having nothing better to do, I searched for a game I could play, ONE HANDED while I recovered. I somehow stumbled upon this game and read some of the reviews. I decided that it had to be worth a shot... I must admit, I didn't beat the game, or play nearly as long as some of you. In fact, I may have only played this game a day or two.. With that being said, after doing so, I had a new found joy and hope for life. I was able to put behind me the pain and suffering that had been cast over me. I was able to experience other peoples joy and happiness. I was able to see the fruits of my "labor". I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes to this music long enough to realize that I was going to be okay.

After coming to that realization, I turned the game off, and I went back to work. It hurt my hand like hell but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so damn sorry for myself, and I became the father I needed to be in that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving as.

Today, I am close friend with my kids mother. We don't fight, or argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents, and friends.

I now have 3 kids. My third child is, wait for it, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my own separation, and we just stumbled in to each others life unexpectedly. We have been in a relationship for a year now, and are very happy together.

Moral of the story, you never know what life holds in store for you, and if I would have given up when all the odds were stacked against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

That would've gotten 42 awards and 2000 up-votes

Yes they really are the worst, I really do have cancer (inoperable). So when I see cancer taken lightly or used for fun and jokes., I quickly report them.

That's another reason why they are bad. Cancer is real and these people manipulate it and pretend to have it to get free ♥♥♥♥. Literally all of those reviews are fake.

They are a sorry lot of people.

It can be very disappointing to see that many people choose to copy the same unoriginal posts over and over again because they don't have the ability to say something original for once. And... the fact that these comments are inexplicably popular.

Blame the awards/points system. When the system actively rewards people for posting ♥♥♥♥, don’t be surprised when people post ♥♥♥♥. Since it also drives engagement with the store (since making purchases is an easy way of earning points to spend spamming clowns everywhere as I understand it), good luck getting Valve to do make more than half-assed attempts to reel it in.

You'll get used to it.

In the past years, I reported dozens of those sorts of reviews, along more dozens of s***post "guides". Most of them are still around, despite a mod needing mere seconds to tell if it's a legit review/guide or not.

I usually prefer saying "hate the player, not the game" but you do have a valid point.

It gets Steam more money in the long run, so why should they solve anything? In the corporate world, the only thing that gets solved is the urgent problem. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. A problem that causes no visible, technical or financial issues is ignored until it festers for long enough. Only THEN, it's fixed.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
