Because they actually enjoy making games and the creative process.
And since they're in a position where they need only prioduce games they want as opposed to produce games because management needs to beef up the 3rd quarter earnings for X year. means that the games are more apt to be the product of genuine passion and creative interest. WHich is the best case scenario.

Did we really need to know that is how he got his name? or where he got the dice that are in the falcon?
In the end, it's best to keep some things unknown, make up your own story if you like because in the end, it really does not matter, and if do have it, it may make it worst
I don't think we so much need Portal 3, or know the back story, not outside what fans made up that is pretty good
This is why more can diminish while less.. less gives you room to think, and gives the audience room to put together the pieces.
Your entire post was a bunch of entitled gibberish I'd expect from a 10yr. Grow the ♥♥♥♥ up. Just because you don't want to see another sequel to the game doesn't mean no one else does and it DOES NOT MEAN everyone who does is a "crybaby who wants their head cannon confirmed" like you stupidly seem to think.
I don't know what your grudge is against portal but if the puzzles were too hard for you to figure out, no need to take it out on the community who wants to see more story and content from the series.
Not everyone. But a lot are. And it seems I may have struck close to centre with my guesses there. EVerything you've said basically points to you already having an idea of what you WANT the story to be. And when the story goes in a way that does not follow what you want it to be,, you will be sad/angry.
What grudge do I display against Portal. The fact that i understand what the story was and why it really makes no sense to continue it. Chells was a generic protagonist. No real back story. That was the pouint. A blank slate for gamers to project onto. Same for Gordon Freeman really.
YOu don't want more story. You don't want the story the creators want to tell, you want them to tell you the story you've aklready decided you want to hear. You don't want more content, because there's already tonnes of content made by the community.
You want HL3 to have HL3 not to actually play HL3. And Valve knows this, Valve which is why they've turned their attention down more interesting paths.
lmao real mature, based on the fact you copied and pasted my previous statement to you made a small edit to you and threw it back in my face means one thing: My assumptions about your age were a little more than accurate.
Please leave the forums dedicated to mature adults discussing semi-serious to serious manners regarding valve and such. We don't need a kid's 2 cents worth butting in because they have nothing better to do than to argue over something they don't understand.
PS: I find it downright hilarious that you assume I have this "head cannon" that I'm somehow expecting valve to read my mind and retell this supposed story I have in my head. lmao grow up, please.
PSS: Good god, learn to bbc code, I've had to edit this 5 times now with how broken your quotes are and how they conflict with the forum's quoting system
Mmm-Hmm so you want to actually address the points or are you you just going to bluster til the heat death of the universe?
That you demand and think there should be a continuation of the stories already says that you can't accept that the creators have chosenn to end the stories where they did. So you already have some head-canon that says there's more story to be told.
Back to my penmanship. I guess thats the only thing you can actually argue against.
First of all, making an assumption on what a user here wants or does not want like that, and confirming it with a bias is not the way to go, mate
Even more his here, and can speak for themself and what they want
besides that, I will say I honestly will like a Portal 3, maybe with some new mechanics and some more story, but I still don't think Valve will do it, because for them I think the story and all is done, at least considering the ending of Portal 2 that felt somewhat like that (Toss you out)
I don't think it so much that users except something from Portal 3, as much as most likely the creative team just felt they are done with it, at least till something new comes
But honestly mate, please re-read your own posts and there response there, I think you may be applying more then exists on the post, and in a way that is really off base
TYhe problem there is the mechanics have pretty much been played out. Poklished, and refined. I think they pretty much threw every puzzle they could at us with the portal mechanics.
When someone comes up with a new interesting First_person puzzle mechanic, chances are we'll see Valve do a game around that. Maybe Gravity or time manipulation. But that will be a different story, and a different franchaise more than likely so not Portal 3.
HL: Alyx was basically valave fooling around with VR and we may actually see more along that line... Or maybe similar side stories that focus on different styles of Gameplay. I could certainly imagine a Thief style stealth game within the HL Setting. I could also imagine a bunker management sim. But me thinks none of these would quiet the memeing mob as it were.
Valve has already released 2 new games, but strangely those aren't enough or don't count.
I'm sorry, wut? Please tell me in what exact words, that I **DEMANDED** a sequel? Do I want one to happen really badly? Of course! Do I expect valve to drop everything and make one because I WANT A SEQUEL TO HAPPEN? Of fuciking course not!
The hell do you get off, making assumptions, claiming I'm being immature, all because I want a sequel to a game that you clearly don't like.(Don't even freaking deny it any longer, its BLUNTLY OBVIOUS by now based on your opinions of the game in your previous posts)
You lot got your half-life 3, it was just called half-Life Alyx. I'm SO SORRY for hoping we'd finally get a sequel to a game people like me loved to play, enjoyed the characters, and the story from.
Actually no, I'm NOT SORRY because I have the right to wish and hope for a sequel! Are we going to get one? Unlikely, which sucks like hell since as I said before, you lot got your half-life 3 and yet those of us wishing and hoping this was a sign that Portal 3 was around the corner have to keep on wishing and hoping. :/
So as I said before KID, leave the forums and please go play fortnight or minecraft or whatever you kids are into these days.
He isn't a kid, though. Bit odd to accuse someone of being a kid just because you disagree with him.
Disagree? I haven't disagreed with SHEET! He's been the one from post one attacking me for supposedly "demanding" a sequel! Quit trying to play middle man because you are failing horribly at it since you clearly haven't been reading the posts carefully or you would have realized I've been on the defensive from my first reply to this dude who has done nothing but make baseless accusations of me and my motives for this thread.
