Old friend claims my account is about to be suspended
So i fire up TF2, and i get this msg from a guy i barely remember but was part of an old community of mine, he says he needs to talk. So he says (via chat) that he ''accidentally'''accused me of illegal purchase and that an admin would suspend my profile.

''I accidentally report you for doing illegal purchased instead of someone else the admin said your account will be suspended''

Im wondering how, and why, what purchase, what do you mean illegal?
Despite him telling him it wasnt me the admin will go through with suspending my profile apperantly, i don't think its possible, he says i need to help him save my account by talking to the guy. So he sends me the link to his profile, this is where it gets fishy, i dont trust it, i didnt click it i copy and pasted the name of the guy and went looking for him, sadly there's 900 pages of people with simular names.

So he says this admin had removed him and he cant talk to him and sent me another, this person by the name of -Gov-lance main. Who needs to see my purchased history list so he can ''program it'' and scan it. Im incredibly sceptic right now and i aint doing ♥♥♥♥. He claims i have 3 hours

Please help.
Do i trust him?
Do i leave it?

His account is compromised, and a scammer is trying to get you to fall for their scheme. Report. Both your friend's account, and "the guy".

Leave it. Ignore/block them. Report them. Scam.

Live savers
Will do!

Also: accidental reports are false reports, and Steam doesn't like those either. If someone reported you by accident then they're the ones in potential trouble, not you!

Yeah i asked several times like, what proof do you have to permantly elimate a duud with over a 100 games, just because you said so and sent him a link.
Never click links on steam. NONE. Doesn't matter who sent them to you.

Report both of them as they are trying to scam you.

Sounds like a threat to me. I would not listen to it, if I were you. And no, ofcourse you should not trust someone who threatens you.
And your friend seems to know more about this then me. It doesn't look like anything is going to be suspended from here.

(Be a dear, and check your profile´s comment section. What the hell is even going on there?)

It is a SCAM. That "friend" is compromised. Please don't comment about things if you don't clearly understand what's going on.

Yeah, you're right. OP should probably just call it's friend in person, and ask what's going on. That's the easiest and most effective way to figure it out.

I don't know who your friend is.

If and only if anyone ever knows the person who owns an account IN PERSON, yes. That's something to email, phone, or chat live - but not here on steam because obviously it's likely to still be a scammer, and not on places like discord because again: that's where scammers seem to like to direct folks now.

If the person isn't an actual real world friend: block, report as compromised, and move on because they aren't your friend any more until proven otherwise.
