Twitch prime and Steam
I don't know if this is the correct forum but just for curiosity why twich prime games are not able to be played on steam ?

What i mean with it is that, sometimes with Twitch prime games from origins were given out and you had to play from the origin launcher and also there are other games given out for free sometimes there like for example Blasphemous, but i myself kinda enjoy to have all the games on the same platform and enjoy steam communite side and steam implementations with trading cards etc...

Does Twitch prime make contracts with the developers or the publisher of these games directly and what would it take to make these games redeemable on steam, a partnership or a contract between both platforms that both of the platforms are not interested to make ?

Do you guys think that this feature would ever be possible or even made in the future ?

That's why i was curious if one day it could become an actual game subscription like EA possibly and maybe possibly getting added on steam if there is the willingness to do so by the company itself.

It gets you subscribed to Twich and using their platform. You get ads on Twitch.

You may just get it for the game, but that isn't how most people use it.

As it is a competing platform, not likely. Amazon is trying to get into digital game sales too.

EA's Origin didn't seem to be doing to well. Likely why they returned to Steam. They also were not trying to compete with 3rd party games, only their own games.

Twitch Prime only allows access to those games, if you are subscribed to Twitch Prime.

To do this, they needed to run their own service.

Yes, Twitch has a license with the developers/publishers to have the games there.

As Twitch uses those games to get people onto their platform, allowing the game to be added to Steam (where they couldn't remove it) it would defeat the purpose of them offering free games.

Oh so basically it is it's own launcher that only function with a subcription, with pretty much accessibility till you have the subcription like for example an EA subscription or Ps Plus subcription.

So i guess a possible addition of adding the game on steam would be impossible, unless maybe twitch prime get's added to steam itself like EA subscription system or another gaming subscription system, that gives you timed limit access to certain games every month possibly and in this case it could possibly work ?

And if that is a yes, i guess it should been in the interest of twitch prime itself to get added in the steam platform i guess ?

EA owns Origin. EA games usually need Origin to run, whether you get them on Twitch Prime or on Steam.

It's not platforms being added to each other, it's simply a publisher deciding how they want things to be distributed.

Yhea i understand this, since pretty much any EA games runs with origin launcher and no game i guess actually is made by default to run with steam launcher.

I guess Twitch prime just cares about distributing the games for their service and that's it and there is no need for them to rely on any other platform for their service anyway, but just out of curiosity if the prime gaming subscription was added (if it can be added) in the steam service like EA subscription, could it possibly work like EA subscription does and give access to the games that they give for free while subscription is on.making you play all the game you redeemed like a form of playstation plus service but without paying for online to play online stuff and all of this on steam ?

Twitch get revenue for advertising to you. You don't get advertising from them on Steam. Free games on Twitch is just to get you on Twitch so they can advertise to you and gather more information for marketing.

Understandable and yhea now that i think about it probably both Amazon and Netflix are trying to create possibly their own gaming service especially considering the fact that Netflix started to remove sponsored content inspired by their own tv series from what i remember to have read, thanks for the info and your insight.

Have a guud day :squirtyay:

Twitch prime isn't comparable to something like EA pro play as there are more things tied to Twitch Prime than just games.
