So they switched to browser base viewing now when you try to watch some of your old purchased videos.
But even that is very buggy and rarely works.
Seems Valve has pretty much forgotten that they ever sold series and movies in the past and only does the bare minimum so old buyers can still access their content.
I can Stream all my Movies and Series just fine. What Problem do u have ?
Because some do occasionally post about this.
Just two days ago none of the videos worked with a " cant retrieve license from server" error.
There were a few threads about it. That error has at least happened 4-5 times over the last year alone.
I honestly dont care, even though i bought a bunch of series and movies on Steam i just got them on BluRay later so i dont have to depend on Steams failed video service in the future.
I stick to oldschool physical media for my movie/tv collection.
I'm with you all the way - physical first and foremost.
Do someone know, if in some way it is still possible to start this counter to get this box for writing review after 5 minutes of watching? Someone know?
I can also still watch the movies in the default OS Browser... BUT... this requires another login with Steam credentials in the browser AND card drops for movies will not work any more!
I did a clean install of steam on another pc and even there, there was no Steam Video Player, so I was wondering if it's just me (maybe depending on geo location) of if the Steam Video Play got "cancelled"...
@Ogami:
yeah now all video content is streaming trough the webbrowser this is not new and yeah Valve did a dickmove when they closed the whole video section but yh it is what it is now we cant change it.
How is it a ♥♥♥♥ move? It was unpopular and not profitable so they stopped offering it as a service and the content that was purchased is still viewable.
I mean if something doesn't generate a profit then businesses won't keep it around and lose money on it constantly.
it is a dickmove because they give zero support for customers who bought movies here on Steam read Ogamis comment then u will see why it is a dickmove.
You mean when the service had a temporary error that was resolved within hours? Yeah that stuff happens, doesn't have anything to do with no longer selling the movies or closing the video section.
As others have pointed out almost everyone else has no issues accessing their videos.
The mobile app was scrapped when the decided to remove purchasing videos. There is no point creating and maintaining one for a tiny subset of the userbase.
