Anyone know when the next steam sale might be? got a bunch of star wars games I'd like to pick up

Very roughly there needs to be a 28 day gap between sales. I strongly anticipate the Lunar New Year sale will have a Star Wars element since Star Wars is Disney and Disney is heavily targeting the Chinese market at the moment.

Disney, at least in theory, would have the last word on publishing strategy for those games. In practice however, you're very much right as Disney don't really care.

Theme parks shut through Covid, cinemas shut. The mouse is reaping the benefits of the Disney channel subscriptions but although normally Steam income might be the equivalent for Disney of loose change down the back of the sofa at the moment video game sales are an area of black on a spreadsheet that's showing a lot of red. Bearing in mind there have been some major Star Wars and Avengers themed games released recently the mouse will care.

Generally speaking, if there's a major holiday, there'll be some sort of sale. By major I mean, something major in the US generally.

Furthermore, it also largely goes like this - if it's say, Chinese New Year, it will be a smaller sale. If it's Halloween, it will be a smaller sale, with emphasis on spookiness.

But you will ALWAYS get the two major sales every year - Summer and Winter at the same times. Some say these vary, but nobody's offered any evidence of this.

All I can tell you is that I work at Glastonbury Festival and I have done for about 20 years now. And I ALWAYS am sat in a field with my laptop, waiting for the sale to start. So I know it has always been the same.
