Credit Card Declined Nightmare (Steam Or Bank's Problem?)
So recently I attempted to purchase a whole lot of games in one go and I got this nightmarish error saying that "Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company."

I asked my bank several times and they said that everything was fine, there was no blacklisting steam, and my account has enough money.

I got this error like this last week since 28 December but the weird thing was that I was able to purchase it next day, and then tested to see if I could make another purchase on the same day.... but (STEAM SAID THE SAME THING) so I waited another day and on the 30th, I was able to make a purchase but after that I tried to make another purchase SAME thing occurs.

I tired to seperate my purchases because I thought that one cart with huge price could cause the bank to decline my transaction. But as I tried with small amount around 5$ it declined me...

My question is that is it the Steam's Store Server going on a Nuclear Meltdown DEFCON 1 or is it that my bank is causing all the headaches.

And also, does steam have a limit purchase on a day???

I have done that but still it isn't working, could be that Winter Sale almost over and it has high traffic.....

It's not the Steam Servers, that's a highly specific error compared to just the generic high-traffic/couldnt process error. That error means it's a user input error.

Possible errors (despite any sides claim):
-Space or Capital missing (caps shouldnt matter)
-Name on card vs input information is not exactly the same but mostly
-Expired card
-Mismatch of Month/Year/Pin/Security number
-Wrong Zip/Postal code
-Wrong address input; what the card was registered as or is currently under might not match what you wrote.
-Wrong phone number used compared to cards registration info or current listed phone # for the bank.

The information tied to the card, is what must be used in order to process correctly. If anything is different, at all, that is an error you'll receive.

Hmmm, but I could perform 2 transactions in 2 seperate days, but cant on the same day. Seems weird to me.

I checked everything and nothing was imputed wrongly. i was able to perform a transaction but after that I could perform another one.....

Possible transaction limit or flagging system meant to prevent fraud. If you've contacted them chances are the issue wont repeat, assuming the correct information is being used.

Alright, I tried to contact them for clarification thanks

I'm having this exact problem. Contacted the bank, and everything is ok at their end. Transaction from steam comes in as error. I can use the CC just fine anywhere else. So frustrating. Steam support just told me to contact bank. This is exactly the same CC I've been using for the past 5 years on steam.

I get this error sometimes and it works itself out if I try again

That's because they CANNOT tell you anything.

It would be the same if you got the same error elsewhere. Vendors CANNOT tell you anything as to why it was refused. They only know vague stuff. They get a line of data that shows things like the card number, your name, the transaction ID and a single number to identify the status - paid, rending, refused and so on.

That's basic security obviously.

So you can ONLY find out through your bank. It could be that your bank has some automated lock out using steam as a lot of banks do that if they've recently experinced a high number of problems with a service. Staff might not know that up front, so push the issue.

But in any case, only your bank can help here.

Ugh having the same problem even though I've put in the right info and checked SEVERAL times it still declined my card, i wanted to buy a game since its the lunar new year sale, but it looks like I'd have to wait again

Seen a ton of threads about Steam having issues with either processing payments or orders, so it might be a Steam issue

Check if the Payment ACTUALLY failed. In the last days i had multiple issues where the Store said the transaction failed, but it went trough. Atleast 3 times i paid with my steam wallet, and it gave me an error for credit card transaction failed, which makes no sense, and the Money was deducted from my Steam Wallet, and i got the Games.

I don't know for sure, but it could come down to whoever processes the payment. Often there are companies that outlets use to process card payment that are pretty much invisible. You just see a payment, you don't necessarily see who processed it. And the thing is that some of the processing companies can block a card ( for their own reasons ) and that's the end of it. Paypal are one such company. If they block a card it is impossible to get it unblocked.

It'seems to be a payment processor - globalcollect or someone associated with them.

It's difficult to find out exactly but it's unlikely to be steam or EVERYONE would get it.
