A Christmas / Holiday themed sale is better than a 'winter' sale
The whole aesthetic & feel of the sale is bland and meaningless. It doesn't even feel like a winter sale.

Honestly, I don't think it's anything to do with offence, I think Valve are just lazy af. Watch as the Summer 2021 sale consists of a banner on the store main page, a few things in the points shop and some stickers being given away.

Not anymore. Now certain words offend people and we (they) can't have that. :winter2019angryyul:

They stick to a theme that won't have a religious connotation.

Steam never had a Christmas Sale.
It was a Holiday sale at most. And it was barely Christmas themed even than. The most it got there was with the elves.

I wish we had sale events again though, I'll miss things like summer saliens.

I liked the noir christmas sale, that one was pretty creative.

The points shop was the death knell of the interesting sale events, IMO. Now all they will do is just add some stuff to the points shop, create a banner for the store home page and the job's done. And with the winter sales, they'll just recycle the trading cards. The Steam Awards and the points shop were the worst things to happen for the sales, from a thematic point of view. That and Valve apparently being too lazy and lacking in creativity to make an effort.

It all began when tokens were introduced in 2019 for sale purchases or previous purchases during the lunar sale event.

At first I loved the idea but then in 2019, the entire year, there was never a sale event that had any interesting mini games of some sort.

Grand Prix 2019 was disastrous for many reasons, and in fact it wasn't actually fun.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this tangent, but saliens 2.0 and other interesting stuff will never happen.

Christmas, in 2020? Surely you jest. But hey, at least "awards" for forum threads are doing exactly what I predicted.

Unfortunately, it's the same reason many people say, "Happy holidays", instead of Merry Christmas. Someone might get offended if you used a word that implies the holiday might be tied to religion.

I thought it was already Christmas themed?

Didn't know the birth of a baby can be offensive. :lolskull:

Given Christ wasn't even born during Christmas....since you know, the bible talks about farmers working in their fields. Yet the fields are usually all frozen over by this time of year.

seems to be more towards a nondescript autumn/winter theme
