Please help for CS:GO FPS
I have a laptop HP Pavilion 15-n208tx.
Following are its specifications:
Processor: i5 4200U (1.6GHz)
Ram: 4GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Geforce 740M
I have windows 10 installed.

Currently, I play in 800x600 :(FPS I get is 40 approx which is very hard to play. It also drops to 24 sometimes and during 'waiting for players' in competitive it gets to 60-70! Also, the game seems slow sometimes especially when smoke or molly comes.

Will increasing the ram help (I want to increase it to 8GB total)to increase FPS?
Please suggest as I'm unable to buy a PC for the next 2-3 years.

There are many guides on the Steam CS:GO Guide section including on Youtube.
I had the same-ish problem and it worked for me.
I can play CS:GO in medium settings with everything organized and it's amazingly 60 fps.
I use a GTX 650.

I can't understand why you'd be experiencing low frame rate on a PC that should be able to run CS:GO just fine, to my understanding at least.

Here are the Minimum requirements for Counter Strike: Global Offensive, however I'm not entirely sure that these are accurate to the current state of the game.

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows® 7/Vista/XP
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 processor or better
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: Video card must be 256 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 3.0
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Storage: 15 GB available space
