Is Golden Profile really worth 5,000 points?

I mean, I bought it 4 times and I don't even have Golden Profile icon. It disappeared from my inventory, so what about Autumn Sale Golden Profile? Is it really worth 5,000 points just for 1 month without any inventory icon / item? Thanks

Depends who you ask. People who have the golden profile probably will say "yes". I find it a waste of points as I find gold an ugly color anyway.

Only you can really answer that question, to be honest. It's definitely not worth it to me, but could be for the next person.

To me it's not worth it because, like Crazy Tiger, i don't like the colour gold. So i find it a disappointment that all the Special Profiles stick with the "Golden Theme".

i'd love a Rainbow Theme profile or something like that. Hahah.

But i guess keeping it consistently Gold helps it be less confusing to users about Valve Staff and Moderators and stuff.

Lasts 30 days at current. So if you have tons of points go for it.
Or wait til they bring it back to Points store then it wont expire .
It was there until recent sales. So maybe it comes back again.

Ya i know. What i meant was that if every event had a "different colour" Profile instead of just a consistent "Golden Profile" the average Steam user may get confused...

Like wondering what "Red" names mean.. or "Purple names" mean, etc. if every event used a different special colour.

Keeping it consistently "Golden" probably helps be less confusing. So people are less likely to fall for scams thinking people with "Special Coloured Names" means they have some sort of Valve-Authority.

Like the first event where Golden Profiles came out i remember seeing some people try to scam others who didn't know about the "Event Reward", by like implying their "special coloured profile/forum" name meant they were an "Admin" or something.

Ehh, still didn't know if i explained good.

AND!!! thanks for the info that i can edit some aspects of the Golden Profile i maybe wouldn't like. i didn't realise that.

I'd say no it's not worth 5000 points. There are profiles cheaper than that that are more worthy to be. Temporary items should not be that expensive in points. If they were reactivated every year automatically then they would be.

In my opinion, repeatedly buying golden profile is only good for users who has too much points to spend.

From 2020 summer you did not get a 'collectible' inventory item, but this one does give one.

If you are into those, go for it!

I mean outside of using the points for profile cosmetics and emotes that aren't tradeable/marketable points don't have any value anyways.

Owner can still equip it on item showcase. Probably it is valuable for a collector. Imagine a profile showcase with 10 golden profile icons. The points are add-on value and indirectly "free", so there is nothing to lose. Personally I feel that it is not worth getting a profile theme now, as the points can be used to upgrade many other things today. If there is nothing else to buy, why not.
