Would reWASD get me banned?
I purchased an Elite 2 controller for myself to play some of my Steam games thinking the extra paddles would be great for mapping extra actions. I should have done more research because it apparently doesn't work that way.

I read people talking about reWASD and how it lets you bind the paddles to whatever you want, so it sounded like the solution to my problem. However, while I'm looking through their website, I noticed that they boasted rapid fire functionality. I don't care about this particular feature since I won't be using it, but it does make me nervous. Could Valve ban my account for using the software?

Even the Steam Controller had a rapid fire option.

Some games use other anti-cheats and they might ban for it. You'll need to ask in the forums for said games.

As far as VAC, I haven't seen anything suggesting it does.

Yup, it's basically a case of "your mileage may vary".

In other words, check any online game for it's individual rules beforehand. While most games wouldn't give a fig about this, there may be some that will.

This is something I'm acutely aware of being disabled, as the rare occasion that I dip into online competitive games, I make sure nothing I'm using that's adapted breaches rules.

Thanks, that makes sense. It just worried me that it listed rapid fire as a feature. I'd hate to lose my steam account over four buttons.

I definitely get you.

But you absolutely did the right thing - you asked here. Nothing wrong with being cautious.
