Craziest Thing Made with Source Engine?
I'm basically just wonderin', what's the weirdest thing anyone's seen been made with the Source engine? Was just wonderin' this cause of game like Dark Messiah, (which is actually kinda awesome, I recommend it) and this MMO I remember playing in childhood called "Vindictus" which is an MMO RPG Beat 'em up where 1 character you can play as is literally a guy with a massive log/rod of marble to crush his enemies with (no inuendo, speakin' literal). Just now that I think of it, an MMO RPG Beat 'em up of all things is usin' the Source engine. Most games I've played that use it have been either shooters of some kind, or made in first person, or are an RTS game made of Half-Life.

Basically, I just wanna know what other kinda games are there usin' Source? Are they rpg's, or are they anything like a classic style horror game with tank controls? That sorta' thing, just generally curious.

Titanfall 2 runs on it. It's not crazy per se, but one would never think it's the Source engine.

I want an entire confirmation on that, cause now you've made me question reality right now. I Googled it, and Google even says it. Do they put that on the case what engine it runs on?

It is a surprise, especially considering how much EA seemed to be push frostbite

APEX LEGENDS USES SOURCE!

I mean it's an FPS game, but still...I didn't expect that!

Honestly as other guy said, Titanfall 2. I found that out only by LowSpecGamer's video on it and im still baffled that its, well, at least source of the engine, is Source. Guess its same as engines made from the Quake's engine [what was it called] which even Source itself is based off if im not wrong, impressive stuff.

The original Titanfall ran on the Source Engine. Is Titanfall 2 running on the same engine or has it been moved to something like Frostbite?

On Titanfall we started with the Source engine; we replaced the renderer, we replaced the audio system, we replaced the net code. What we have now is very different from that. We have stuck with the Titanfall engine, but we did a lot of rendering improvements. We have physically based rendering, we have this really cool texture streaming system we wrote, HDR, bloom, depth of field. Hopefully you can see the results of all that hard work we put in that the game looks really different.

We also have a whole new audio system again. This time we have audio environments. Audio-wise, if you compare the two games again, it’s a huge leap. We have sound occlusion and reverb happening. There has been a whole bunch of areas where we make big changes to the engine, so there’s not a lot of Source left; we continue to rip out chunks and rewrite chunks and make it do exactly what we want to get out of this engine, and get the performance what we’re looking for.

So it is Source, but apparantly there is not much of the original engine left!

Zeno Clash is a pretty far out and awesome commercial product made with source.
@cinedine those I don't think I consider crazy, except maybe blade symphony.

@sePL80 I actually would say Zenso Clash is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥' wild, just weird in general.

1 Half-Life 2 mod i decided to pick up actually is "From Earth" though....that actually has a pretty interesting concept behind it, I'd say, it's a game that doesn't hold you hand as it expects you to learn an entire alien language to communicate with the locals whose planet you crashed on. Also, this mod I seriously wish caught on, it was called "Insect Infestation" it was a Half-Life 2 mod that was basically like team based battle, but it's essentially big wars set it the small world of insects, with 1 team playin' ants, the other playin' termites and it seemed like bees were gonna be an eventuality. I like the idea of it, just playin' as insects, and such; always liked the perspective of something so tiny and insignificant, and to make something similar to a red vs blue type game of it. I mean Natural Selection got a sequel; and Age of Chivalry went on to become Chivalry, and then Mordhau came out; and Insurgency went on to become its own game, I think Insect Infestation deserved a lot more attention than it got and deserves to be an actual full on game.

These mods sound interesting!
I am excited now.

Keep a look out for G-string. It is an old mod that got another release called G-string: Year One. And soon there will be a final release as a stand alone source game here on steam. There already is a store page on steam for G-string. On moddb.com you can check it out.
I actually have a lotta' fond memories of source games, stemming from regular ol' Half-life and Portal, and then going into the various mods and some of the things people did with 'em. I had fun with 'em as a kid, saw things about 'em I liked, and things about 'em I absolutely loved. Now-a-days it seems like source games....barely have an audience anymore...hell Half-Life 1 mods seem barely too have an audience, then again, the only 1 i've checked is Sven Co-op, which doesn't do anything especially spectacular, but it's extremely fun regardless. I remember mods like Brain Bread, seeing my dad play it when I was especially young, then later in my youth, managing to find it, and its name, download it, and play it amongst my fellow gamers, and being wowed by the effects of it and how shooting zombies in it with such an old engine you'd see chunks of flesh go missing. I also remember there being a mod of vampire hunters versus vampires in there as well, the concept also seems interesting. Brain Bread has a sequel even, just never got around to trying it out. put it simply, I wanna see what kinda feets someone can pull with these engines, and what kinda fun can they make with 'em? What's Source's limit? Cause it's not limited by genre apparently cause of Vindictus, or D.I.P.R.I.P..

Aside from what has already been mentioned, the most unorthodox Source games/mods I can think of are Alien Swarm and Lambda Wars. Alien Swarm is a top down shooter while Lambda Wars is an RTS.
Well, both of those I can believe existing, cause games like Zombie Master, and Empires exist.
