Is it possible to erase the game data of an online game? If so, how?
So for quite some time now, I've been looking to erase the game data of two games I have: Team Fortress 2 and Payday 2.

Apparently it is possible to delete game data on Steam, however, I think doing this for online games is another story. I've watched tutorials on YouTube and one guy was showing two different methods, since certain games are put into your Steam folder one of two ways, and he said these methods do not work on online games. Other than the fact that I only heard this from the one person and when I used one of the methods in question they really didn't work (I mean it did but it only reset my in-game settings), I usually don't give up easily and I always believe there's another way while trying to find it. Even so, I still find difficulty in trying to discover a way to erase the game data of my TF2 and PD2, as in there's a lack of things to read, watch, etc. and I sometimes don't really know what else to type or how in the search bar. Hell I actually got something that was on Disney's website and it had nothing to do with what I need. Anyways, here I am. Does anybody know of a way to erase the game data of online games, specifically Team Fortress 2 and Payday 2. And in case anybody thinks so, this will obviously have nothing to do with certain key data such as Steam Achievements. Thanks in advanced. Until next time,

~Bread =)

Talk to support of the games.
I don't know.
What game data?

Stuff like time played?

or Stuff like cloud save?

Game data on TF2 would imply stuff such as the items I have in my inventory, my records, the tutorials and the like. On Payday 2, game data on there would imply things like items, my money, what levels I've done already. In other words, I want it to look as if the game is brand new on my library.
IDK about TF2 I would assume the inventory stuff you can trade away to a storage account... not sure what you even mean about tutorials? You mean make the game think you have not done them?

PD2 should have a folder in appdata or someplace. There are guides to reset achievements you can look up for exact instructions but in general you have to go into steam and turn off cloud save for all games, then go to the game itself in its properties and turn off cloud save for the game.

Remove file, restart steam. Start game to create a clean new save. Exit game.

Turn back on cloud save in both steam and the game, restart steam then start game... it should ask you what save you want to have in cloud the new or old one.

This will not remove steam inventory items like safes or skins or reset playtime, but it will reset achievements and in game stuff. <I think, I've never done it specifically for PD2>
typically the appdata stuff has the game progress, but anything in steam inventory is considered a steam item not a game item.

Not sure where TF2 falls in that regard as they do have some steam inventory items and the game is made by valve so not sure where they draw the line in terms of game stuff vs steam stuff.

I see. I'll give it a shot, thanks a lot

Ok so let me clarify a few things for you:

-When I say 'tutorials' I'm referring to what's in the main menu. I think the button was called 'Practice' or 'Training', where they go over certain classes like the Spy, Engineer and Soldier and teach you how they work.

-Sometimes the inventory holds items that are untradeable and cannot be sold on the Steam Community Market, too. I wanna start anew, not just get rid of whatever items I can and call it a day. You get what I mean?

-Lastly, Idk if I can actually reset my achievements, since they're linked to Steam. I mean, I'm not totally denying the idea that it's possible but still, just figured I'd point that out.

Cool, thanks for the clarification.

I know the process I described above is intended to reset achievements for PD2 since they would ban people for using programs to alter their achievements. I would assume that would work the same for TF2. Good Luck!
