Would Steam ever sell to Microsoft, and if so, how much do you think they would pay?
Considering Microsoft just brought Bethesda's parent company and all the companies under it for a little over 7 billion dollars (3 billion more than Disney paid for Lucasfilms/StarWars/Indian Jones etc).

They cant buy Steam because Steam does not have stock.
Gabe Newell would need to personally decide to selling Steam to them and he already said multiple times that he would never do that.
Also, the estimated value of Steam by 2020 is somewhere between 15 and 20 billion dollars according to most analysts. ( cant be more precise because again, not traded on the stock market).
So Microsoft would most likely need to cough up 20 billion + for it.
Even for Microsoft that would be a bit much. Also all irrelevant since Gabe never would sell Steam.

Never say never.

Of course, nobody can predict the future and a lot can change.
But for now and the immidiate future the answer is no.
Also, what would Microsoft want with Steam? Their whole focus right now is selling their Gamepass subscription on console and pc and getting more exclusive game studios added to it.
Buying Steam would not help with that, especially with the price they would need to pay.

I believe Steam is privately owned, and it's been around for a while. If the owner gets tired of it and wants to do something else, they just might decide to get rid of it some day.

Also, money can do a lot to help with such decisions.
I think the community would react very badly if Steam were sold to Microsoft (and it would be a deal that would have monopoly implications). However selling to EA or Epic would be considered a fundamental betrayal by those who would understand the implications.

Ideally when Gabe gives up the company would just pass down the family line with no significant changes.

The one company that would and could make a serious bid for Valve - Amazon. It would fit very neatly into their portfolio.

I don't think Valve is likely to sale anytime soon
As long as the company likes to be there small company selling off to anyone will basically kill that
Also, Valve did kind of buy out some studios
So at this point, I think they're not really much in risk to getting bought out by any company

Valve is not a "small company".
COnsidering Valve was founded by gave after he got tired of working at Microsoft. I don't think its likely. Secondly Valve has no stock and no debt to purchase.
Nobody knows what the future holds. Valve could be in talks right now with MS, epic, EA, tencent or some other big corp to sell up, we don't know.

Correct but I mean the structure they set to the company, that in the end is kind of a small company structure over a huge thing like Microsoft or compere to them, the size is small
microsoft computer division does fine but their xbox division is in the toilet especially with the two new jokes they call next gen so it should not be hard to understand why they bought bethesda another company who is now in the toilet which STEAM is not but i could never see them with MS. (IF STEAM WAS I WOULD NOT USE IT ANYMORE).
Microsoft capitalized value by the way is 1,550 billion dollars. (1.55 Trillion)

Yes, small change :steammocking: could pay 5% off the untied states debt, if you put it this way

Then you better not look into how much the Catholic CHurch, LDS, or Mormon churches are worth then.
