Disable Store Recommendations
When I go to the store now, I see a big screen-filling banner with "recommendations for me".
I do not want Steam to show me such useless advertisement upon entering the Store...

How can I get rid of it?

Thanks for constructive answers! (Please, don't say "Why do you want to disable them? They're very useful!"... That doesn't solve anything.)

A featured and recommended section has always existed. You can customize it if you want as well.

Is it possible to have this section like it was before?

Before:
Actual AAA-Games and popular Indie Games. There were Games I had never heard about, but looked interesting and I clicked the store page to see what it was about.

Now:
Still the popular AAA-Games + Games recommended by friends + games recommended cause I played games with the same tags.
Problem Now: All(!) Games recommended by tags are old ones. I mean like Gothic 3, Star Wars: KOTOR, etc. There's nothing new to find. Only games I've already played (not Steam) or games I already thought about buying or not.

Maybe I want to have a look at other kinds of games than the ones mainly play?
Just to have a look. Even if I don't buy them, I like to see what's going on... and sometimes I try sth new... strange, isn't it^^

So is there a way to set this recommended by tags to default, to not only use tags of games I played much? Or to the settings like before the update?

And is there a way to turn of recommended by friends?

And how we do that for the home? Half of the list is oldies or craps.

Yeah, this kinda sucks, I want the old shop page back as well. Why don't you make these things optional ?

Please disable recommended games and discovery queue not working?
alright we can all agree to recommended games to be turned off or able to turn them off ourself with the simple check box we had back then. its the equivalent of spam in your email which is annoying. also why is my discovery queue just there? i click it to changed the settings but just does nothing.

They really need to give us the option to disable recommendations in our preferences. I prefer to see new games and upcoming releases in my spotlight, not old ones just because I play a game with the same tags. I don't care about Modern Warfare 2, just because I played another fps or any other game for that matter. I want the option back to glance at new games without a hassle.

And while we're at it, I want the option to disable curators, my discovery queue and what's trending among friends too (srsly, I know what my friends play, no need to show me). It's a front page, which means I want the most important features to be visible at a single glance and not some bloated info center that makes me scroll for eternity to reach whatever info I want. Featured spotlight/slideshow, special offers and the usual list of what's top selling, new etc. is all the front page needs. If anyone thinks otherwise, just give us an option to fully customize it for ourselves, please.

Customize isn't really a solution, since we have to disable EVERY old Game we don't want to see by itself, and there are thousands of Games on Steam ...

I want to see new Games, updated Games and Sales, i DON'T want to see some old full-priced crap i've seen thousand times before, just because these Things share some Tags with Games i'm playing... and it looks like i'm not the only one.

Give us a Option to turn this off.
The alternative would be to stop using the Store Startpage because we can't find what we're interested in on it anyway...
That would be bad for us and Steam :/
Why would the system reccomend games I already own?

Steam even if I wanted I can't buy this crap again? You reccomending Dragon Age because I like "Action" and "RPGs" is if anything, an insult because I'd sooner prefer to somehow un-buy the game and erase my prior memories of it.

Please bring back the old options for the reccomended game list options (don't show games I own, don't show old games). Seeing the upcoming and recent releases was always interesting and effective for impulse buys. I do not need to be nagged about 10+ year old games, I made my descions about them then. I wanna see the new stuff.

That doesn't even work properly, if I click on "Customize Discovery Queue", nothing happens...

And for the things I can click, they don't change / disable anything.

Isn't recomendations the same as discovery queue? so now there are two Discovery Queues;
the main DQ which I have never used & another DQ intertwined with new releaes.

Fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steam store, it's impossible to find new games anymore!
We don't want the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ recommendations for old and outdated games nobody plays!
