Electronic Arts
Is Steam going to remove Origin from the EA games? Because I would buy every EA game in a heartbeat if they didn't all DL Origin with them, I hate Origin!

Origin won't be removed from EA games because it's their DRM.

Valve/Steam does not make that decision. That is up to the game's developer/publisher.

Origin is just another launcher that we must accept & love.

Sadly Origin doesn't love me and it uninstalled itself :(.

No, because EA is the problem not Steam. If you don't want Origin, ask EA to stop selling games tied to Origin, it's all on EA.

look, be happy that EA is back on Steam regardless if their games use origin or not. personally im happy to see ea on steam again because i missed out on their games back in 2011 now i own them thanks to the partnership.

Origin is the digital-rights-management (or DRM) software for EA games, and if the game has multiplayer or any online functionality, it'd be VERY difficult to remove Origin without breaking the game, and frankly EA isn't going to consider that as it costs money to do something that for most people, isn't necessary.

On the bright side, it's a light version of Origin, not the full version, and it closes out when Steam exits the game. It isn't always running in the background, unless you already used it prior to the Steam x EA event, like I have, in which case it does.

I agree. I was unable to buy their games because their store does not supports the payments i use. So i'm glad they brought their games here. Many seems missing. I hope they add them.

Even if they could, Valve would get their pants sued off if they did.

Nearly all of the actual New releases from EA on Steam (minus sports titles) haven't required Origin. I think most of their older games have Origin systems tied deep into the game so they aren't going to go back and rewrite the code. Hopefully they keep this trend with their newer titles but you will just have to check with each game. Some examples are C&C remastered, Rouge Squadron, and Apex Legends (coming soon), none of them require Origin.

You can avoid Uplay and Origin games. here on Steam.
If i see Uplay or Origin, then, i move along.
Quite simple.

Origin is less intrusive than the Unity launcher, than Square & Bethesda's launchers, but ain't nobody complain about them.
Pro tip: drop principle thinking.
