Purchase games you got a free copy of?
This may sound like a stupid question, but I'm wondering if or how it would be possible to buy your own copy of a game that you got through Curator Connect. Like, to support the devs, make your review count for the rating, get trading cards or whatever.

I believe all you need to do is remove the license and you should be able to purchase it from the steam store.
(It could be that you might be met with a message saying you already own one or more things in your cart something, which would then mean you probably need to have support really remove it.)
you can test it yourself by removing a curator package that you claim and purchase it, if it goes through then you can ask for a refund i guess.

Ok cool, but how do I remove the license? ;) I didn't find any such option in my library.

under the support tab : https://help.steampowered.com/en/
search for the game and find it.
then eventually you will see an option to permanently hide it.

i would recommend doing it on something you recently got like within 2 weeks and played for less than 2 hours just to be sure the hours and ownership date do not exceed the 2 weeks / 2 hours refund time.

Thank you for your helpful reply! This seems like quite a hassle, though. I think I'll take up the issue in the Suggestion forum, but I'll keep this in mind in case I feel an overwhelming need to buy myself an extra copy.

It's supposed to be a hassle because it's not something you should be doing accidentally.
If it's about giving back to the developer, there is always the option to gift copies and better yet, do what you are supposed to do with a review copy: spread the word.
It's better to have five people buy the game based on your review than you buying a single copy. Review copies are calculated expenses.

start by understanding which limitations are set upon the curator packages or read what the OP is writing, then you might understand what the OP is talking about.

when you don't understand the limitations set upon the curator packages, why comment at all?

I perfectly well know the limitations and TC reasoning is even in the OP. I gave my opinion on a specific part of it "If it's about giving back to the developer" which relates to OP's "Like, to support the devs".
You also might be aware that other people find this thread via searching and the title itself says nothing about curators.
:steamfacepalm:
So ... take your own advise and read what you're replying to? Or finally learn what forums are.

Sure, I meant in addition to writing reviews and spreading the word, and also for reasons like the other ones mentioned in my OP:
You don't get trading cards for free copies, but some people would want to get them (I like to have badges if they are nice and/or remind me of games I liked).
Also, only reviews by people who bought the game on Steam are shown at the top of the store page and count towards the game's rating - which is the first place people look at, and they might move on right away if there's no rating showing up, which in turn gives unknown indie devs a hard time.
