Steam stops downloading while downloading PDF files

Right now I tried to reinstall The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and after 30GB the download stops due to a disk write error while downloading a PDF and stops at every damn PDF that appears. I tried to fix it by working down all possible options I got from a steam-support site but nothing helped ... in my desperation I even deactivated Avast-Antivirus ... pls I need help with that but I don't find a way to directly write to steam support.

I have the same issue, and it happened to me with endless space 2 also with a pdf

I have solved the issue disabling the antivirus for the download

Yes, I believe this issue is widely known about as I've sen it crop up before - there may even be a thead (possibly stickied) in the game's forum here.

The disabling of your antivirus temporarily usually sorts it, but I seem to recall there's more to try if you still get stuck.

Have a nose, and if you can't find it on the game's forum here, then I'll happily go and have a nose myself.

Steam may be using the CPU for downloading the game. PDF files are small and writing takes less than 25% CPU. Either you can download the PDF first, or the game first.

If this doesn't work than you have to read the minimum requirements, they will say that you should have atleast this much of space. Open File Explorer, on the left side click This PC, then you can see the C: drive that it has this much space free.
