Not all games support it. I have an Ultrawide and, while there are a fair amount of new ones, I still have black bars on the sides as many only support 16:9.

You can check here information on what games support and don't support Ultrawide, though it is not likely to be a complete listing: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/9685213-r-ultrawidemasterrace-Group/

Cool thx for info.
I think you'll have to look up if a game supports ultrawide on a per-game basis.

I know that not all games support it.

just don't get an ultrawide its honeslty overrated, get a normal monitor with a good refresh rate
If a game does not support ultrawide, there might exist a community modification for it.
One of the best source is https://www.pcgamingwiki.com.

Search for the game on this site, look up the contents table for the video entry and check the Ultra-widescreen option.

Another site is https://www.wsgf.org.

Nearly all modern games support it. So what if they don't? It's still a bonus when they do!!

I thought about getting ultrawide but didn't for the reasons above. If a 32:9 monitor could have the edges of each side viewed as, and used as separate screens where I could put, for example, discord or a browser on the edges.. sure, then ultrawide would be extremely cool.. but it doesn't work that way so I found it better to just stick with a 16:9.. maybe get a couple of 15" monitors mounted vertically on each side, set up a custom resolution in the AMD control panel, and if games don't support it, at least I can still use that real estate for other stuff.

I thought nearly all AAA games released in the last 5 years would support it, can you name one a game in that category that doesn't support Ultrawide?

I want an Ultrawide too but money has been an issue

most games in the last 10 years support ultra wide, 21:9
check wsgf.org for those that do not

or use gpu scaling to stretch 16:9 to 21:9

but it will look best to use wsgf instructions to set the game to run at the res natively instead of stretch/scale to 21:9

Is there a search bar in this site. cuz scrolling through pages is beyond tiring to find the game you looking for?

The ultrawide usually require more power. I have some game in my s20 plus need more power because of wider screen.
_I_ Aug 2, 2020 @ 6:10am
about 30% difference in pixel count (if both are the same px tall)
slightly less than that in performance hit
or set the gpu or dispaly to hold the scaling and center the timings so it will be 16:9 in the center of the display

I’ve had 34 inch ultra wide monitors for about 6 years or so now. Currently I am running the Alienware 34 curved @120hz but I’ve also had and am a big fan of LG ultrawides and their products in general. For gaming, I don’t really recommend it u less you play things like league or an mmo like wow. Also, not all games support the resolution. Even new ones. There’s not a ton that’s demanding in those games and typical it runs well. It’s very resource demanding for These new FPS games so you’ll need a good PC to push decent frames at 3440x1440. For me, a smaller sized monitor like 24-27 at high FPS is the way to go. You don’t have to turn your head to see anything and to me, it’s much easier to see everything since I don’t have to turn my head and can see the entire screen easily. Basically, for non competitive, immersive games go ultrawide but otherwise it’s not that great for gaming. It does look good though.

I mainly use them for work. You can’t beat the extra screen real estate when writing code or looking at data in excel.
