PC/Steam only?
So I am debating going PC only gaming, mostly with Steam and am wondering if anyone one else has done this and how they like it? I recently bought a new gaming PC, and have no real issues running anything I am interested in, so I shouldn't be left out of the loop on any big releases aside from console exclusives.

I have a One X, PS4 Pro and Switch, if anyone is wondering.

Mostly wondering if it is reccommended to go this route and start getting big releases on PC.

I've never had a console, and I'm ignoring everything that's not on Steam.

My backlog is huge regardless, so there's really no point in trying to get access to even more games.

If you already have the consoles, why not use them? Play the game on the platform that you most want to. There are many smaller games or local co-op only games that are ideal on the Switch. And PS4 has a lot of great exclusives.
Why limit yourself to one platform just because you want to be a "PC Gamer"?

I guess I worded things wrong above. I do not plan to get rid of anything, just go PC for a main system of choice. If new game is available on PC get it there instead of Xbox or PS4.

I should have worded my thoughts a bit better.

IMO, depends on your gaming habits. I have Consoles too but this generation I only got the PS4, there are a lot of titles I prefer on it than PC. There's a lot of Co-op stuff among my friends so I use PS4 for those kind of games.

However when it comes to Singleplayer or Strategy/Roguelikes I'm PC all the way most times. Plus PC has the biggest/best Indie games, with only the most successful coming to consoles. Not to mention the ease and variety of Modding on PC compared to consoles.(bethesda console mods are a complete joke IMO, whereas PC has nexus mods)

So, IMO, just go where you major gaming habits are. If you mostly play SP or something, then go for PC. Just keep an eye for future consoles since they may actually be tempting.

Just buy and play what you enjoy. You already have the consoles, of there's something exclusive coming out, you have the luxury of being able to play it

There's no need to go exclusive, except with possible partners ;)

As someone having been doing PC-only gaming for years, I'm actually glad I bought my Switch. PC gaming on the go sucks, there's not a single solution without massive downsides. The Switch however is the perfect handheld console.

It all depends on what you're comfortable with. I prefer my story driven games/RPG's (my "main" gaming) with a controller in my hand and sitting on the couch. I prefer other genres through Steam, though.

Didn't know we can run 2 instances of Steam on 1 computer.

You can't. But what do you need 2 instnaces for? You also don't run 2 instances of Gears of War on your XBox, but one instance is enough to play the game.

I'm not the only one that uses the laptop and Steam.

I don't get what you're talking about. With a console, you can play a game from your couch with a gamepad. With Steam, you can do the same. Either by attaching said laptop to the TV or using Steam streaming with a Steam link (or a cheap thin client PC). What exactly do you need a second Steam instance for?
