Any game like Dayz but singleplayer?

I lack the ability to be competitive in an online pvp survival game like this, half because I'm solo, half because I don't have a ton of time to sink into getting good, but I want to still have shoot outs and zombies, with that gritty survival undertone.

Dayzero for Arma 3 takes up way too much space with all it's dependencies, my SSD is very very small. But that's pretty well what I'm looking for.
Was just wondering if there is a game that simulates the experience of dayz, but singleplayer. Mods for other games also work.

I've heard scum is eventually getting an AI update, somewhere down the line, and I hope it does because that'd be perfect and I also own scum.
Any help would be appreciated.

you can play killing floor 1 & 2 single player (even though it has a co-op heavy design). doesnt have that open map sandbox feel of dayz though

state of decay is alright but i found its combat a little too easy and a bit tedious in terms of collecting supplies.

dying light 1 & 2 is pretty awesome, esp on harder settings if you really like immersive. you can play single player and offline too.

7 days to die is alright. Looks like ♥♥♥♥ but is pretty good once you're actually playing it and learn its nuances
has some customization so can set your own difficulty.
plus it has multiplayer for when you feel like doin that
