Is the animation supposed to play for like 5 seconds and then resetting abruptly? Looks really bad :(

Then that's your browser doing its thing, the background looks fine on my end. But to answer: normally it continues its movement indefinetely.

First of all, holy necro.

Also I'm not using a browser and every other background works just fine. I think we might be seeing the same thing, what I mean is not that its ending but rather than the animations loops and doesn't behave like a real lavalamp.

If you mean that it reverses, it appears that way on mine too. The animation is being run to the end then reversed infinitely. I agree it doesn't look all that good but it would be difficult to animate this particular animations properly, meaning seamlessly.

But, like you said, total necro and a moot point.
