Big picture mode perma Screwed up my Dark souls in game resolution
TLDR I was messing with Steam link from my pc to my cell phone. and now my games are all running in a weird aspect ratio that has black bars on the left and right of my screen regardless of the resolution i set the game to, EVEN when not using big picture mode. I wish i could disable this annoying app from steam i never use it and it causes nothing but problems overiding settings and controls even when not connected. Does anybody know how to force big picture mode to change aspect ratio's? im not using big picture mode but it seems to have changed game settings on its own even when not using it and im about to toss my pc out my bedroom window.

any help is appreciated thank you:steamfacepalm:

I don't know how to solve your problem, but I do know that your asking in the wrong area. Try the Dark Souls III forum:

I would ask the darksouls community but its not a game issue its an issue with my ultrawide monitor and big pictures forced 1080 resolution

1. What's your monitor native screen resolution, or provide the monitor model?

If far as I know this game is 16:9 aspect ratio. May need to get DSFIX, and anything else to fix the game if using aspect ratio, or resolution that is not 16:9.

2. Big picture doesn't edit games resolution, normally in cases seeing game resolution change would be related to Nvidia experience, or AMD Radeon panel that has auto config game settings will mess with your game setting including game resolution, ensure if your using Nvidia experience, or AMD Radeon panel that you do to have auto config your game settings enable, as it's far better to manually set the settings yourself.

Also in the Steam settings can't remember where, but in the Steam client settings there's a box you uncheck to not have big picture start when you launch Steam.

Things you could try is verify game files, or restart PC, then test game to see if any changes.

Ah, then you need to use a widescreen mod, if I'm not mistaken.

Have a look here.

this has never been an issue before i forgot to state like i mean it JUST now happended when i tried to use steam link from my pc to my phone. i Have a viotek ultrawide monitor standard ultrawide resolution, With Big picture mode not even being used. My games resolution is set to my monitors resolution, but the black bars on the side of the screen are there. So what i did was thinking it was darksouls screwing up i downloaded that widescreen fix, that didnt work either and then i opened Big picture mode and low and behold, the resolution on big picture mode is the same as that screenshot you see up above, theres black bars on the left and right hand sides of the screen, ive restarted my pc, im considering reinstalling steam because for some reason they never added an option to restore default settings. Its like big picture is setting the aspect ratio to my cell phones aspect ratio. Ive disabled big picture mode and restarted steam 3 times and nothing has worked. it has to be some sort of bug.

The best way to explain is like the game is hard stuck on whatever resolution big picture mode was set to when i linked it to my phone, and after exiting steam link the resolution was stuck to how it is now.

My monitors resolution is 2560x1080
