Why do people change their names so often? It is getting annoying.
Before you say stuff like: Nicknames exist!
i know it, i just wanted to bring this topic up because i know I am not the only one annoyed by this. As someone who has never changed his name on steam, why is it so hard for people to have a simple, unique name? Why is it so hard to decide on one name?

Don´t get me wrong, i have no issue with people changing their names every couple of years. But every day? A couple years back, I had to unfriend at least 30 people, because I simply did not recognise them. And Later I foud out that a lot iof other people have the same problem with their friends.

A lot of the names are also immature and not funny. If i am in a call with you and a couple of other people i don’t know, and I don’t want to say your real name, I am sorry, but i don’t want to call you stuff like Donald Trump or AreaBetweenBallsAndHoleMan.

What are your opinions?

To be funny, troll, impersonate, or because they can.

Because they're empty shells trying to imitate the living. Or... they just want to change names. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

You could always check how many names they have in their name history and decline the friend invite if there's more than one name showing. Or invite only real friends.

I can't even remember when one of my friends changed their name.

“I don’t think it’s funny” is not to say “no one finds it funny.”

Because people want to. No other reason needed.

because I get tired of seeing my own name and want something new. I am the same way in real life when I cant work at the same place for longer then a year.
Idk why people would live an office life for 30 years just because they get money.
I want something new every so often

Why not ask the people who this actually concerns?

I agree
There's a lot of weird people nowadays

Steam should do something about this

There's always been a lot of weird people, and they're all part of the human spectrum which is just weirdness across the board. And the people who think that they're normal are just deluding themselves. Also Steam is not in the business of micromanaging the human condition.

Well, people change. Maybe I would not necessarily change my nickname, but if I was a shapeshifter, I would look everyday like a complete different person, our needs and wishes are temporary, nothing is really permament.

I guess you could say, if you don't recognize your friend then maybe he is different person, not the one you once knew, friendships don't last forever, why? Because people change.

Every change changes either brain or genes, thus making us after change a different person.

First, right-click on your friend's name. Second, choose a nickname. Result is a nickname behind your friend's current alias. You can also just show the nickname.

As I said, I am already aware of this feature and I have been using it. It just suprises me, how many people can’t decide on a name.
