Should steam disapear, what would happen to my games ?

Because Steam requires an internet connection to login or launch games, I was wondering if I could still play my games after the end of the world, when Steam servers will not be availlaible anymore.

It will never dissappear. If it did you will lose all your games

Just make a backup after you have verified everything, and updated everything. And put it on a external drive. And if steam is offline, last time i got the question. Would you like to start up steam in offline mode.

The thing is that only works for a time.

ALL games need to do a periodic checking online, and if you don't they simply won't work anymore.

Actually, you're correct. My apologies.

But most do, and unless you have certain knowledge beforehand, it's going to be all but useless.

Generally, from what I've found it tends to be older games that don't have this periodical check-in.

It really depends on the mindset of the developer / publisher and how far they go with DRM.
