put some money in a friends steam wallet
so every thing i have looked at ASSUMES i want to purchase a game and gift it. that is NOT what i wish to do. i want to add money to a friend's steam wallet and let them choose what they want to buy.

a great way for steam / valve to make money, yet this feature is non-existent or so well hidden, sherlock holmes would be hard pressed to find it.

Send your friend a digital gift card. Steam has that feature.

You can, but only with funds from an outside source (credit/debit card, PayPal). You can't send Steam wallet funds to another account.

yeah, i want to use my debit card to put money in my nephew's wallet. graduation today.

Then click the above link from Spawn of Totoro and you can buy a digital gift card for him.
