Crash3 works differently, you beat the level first, then you get the option to do the challenge for it, some of them have secrets, there skills you be required in to need as well you get them when you beat the boss of each warp area, like double jump, air spin, and etc.
Stromy Ascent is a level name. It's a whole zone by itself, only for Crash 1, not Crash 2, and 3, was that clear enough?
Future tense is a level name on it own, only for Crash 3, not for Crash 1, and 2.
You don't need to do anything really to unlock those levels.
In Crash 1, to access Stromy Ascent you have two paths, A) Go back to 1st area, you see purple panel, go onto it, it will take you right to that level, or B) Play thought out the game, until you reach that level that near the end of the game. https://imgur.com/a/cYuKTTZ
Now for Crash 3, to access Future tense, you just take the middle platform that and go up, that's all there is to it.

Power stones, gems, and time trial are not needed to unlock either of these levels at all. If you're trying to max out the % in the game, I was explaining what you needed to do.
Stormy Ascent was removed from the game in the ps1, they left the level in the game, but to access it you need to use game shark code to access it on the ps1, they removed it because it was too hard to beat. In the remake which we know as N'Sane Trilogy, it's basically a DLC is what they wanted to let you know it's in there.
Future tense is a whole new level, and it was a DLC for the console, you had to download the DLC to access it, and it gives you heads up about it from the main menu.
Don't worry about them really, they're just extra levels you can play, and if going for the max % game then just beat everything, and get all the stuff, other than that, SA, and FT are just extra levels you can choose to skip if you want, if not trying to perfect the game.

The PC version comes with the DLC's pre-installed with the game.
The DLC's comes pre-installed as I said before.
