also just realised this was necro'd but hillarious as i just learned about this myself last month
best way to test. deauthorie all devicces ( instantly logs you out your steam mobile auth ) relog back in phone. than recheck that list. you will see taht same login number and current location for phonne tower :) and depending on make of phone mine showing -400 + -1 was what mine showed as while listing the tower my phone was appaerntly connected to was STuPId far away... ( makes me want to question my provider tbh why my closest cell tower is taht far )
i was at a city i have never even heard of.
Soooo i guess steam has a terrible location pinpointing system. But my last question is, when i have logged in on my phone at my house, it said i haven't logged out yet even when i close my phone. when i first got the successful log in attempt in a far city, it said it logged out after a few minutes. the thing that makes this more stressful is its when i usually had my phone out, so its even harder. Sorry for asking but does this sometimes happen to you? the never log out part, even when you closed your phone and steam app. I'm just worried, hopefully you get me. tysm for the help btw, I really appreciate it, since this is an old discussion.
It's an old discussion, but it is still a valuable one. I've been on Steam for about eighteen years and there is stuff in here I just learned from reading this thread.
I wish I could answer your question, but I cannot. It could simply be a delay in updating the information. Try actually logging out instead of just shutting off your phone. Also, do what others have suggested and forcefully log out all connections. (Make sure your password is new/safe, of course.)
Personally, I change my passwords regularly. I have verified that The Dark Web has my old passwords floating around on it from eighteen years ago.
------------------
Updated Legend for Steam Login History:
-1 is the website (via browser)
16 is Windows (Steam application)
-88 is MacOS (we think)
-400 is your mobile phone
-192 is Linux where the major kernel version is 4 but the minor version is unknown
-203 is Linux where the kernel version is unknown
-700 is "other" (we think)
Thank you for including that.
What did it say on your Steam login history? Did it say anything other than where you live? Because I also got -700 for the first time at 6:33 P.M., but I think I checked my login history at that time, and it said it was where I live, but I didn't log on, I just got on the Steam website which does not count as a login.
Apologies for necro, I'm just going through the same thing here and this was the only good post I could find.
