there is still an option to drag it out hover mouse over the bottom right corner, drag option. Hover mouse of left bottom corner open image in new window
top left a circle restore image to original size
Those options you mentioned, the drag option in the bottom right corner, open in new window in bottom left and the top left circle are what are no longer present in the newest update. That's what I'm saying is missing.
I'll keep this short and to the point:
I won't say any names or say anything ban or removal of comment worthy, but the fact I have to state such a thing should give the reader an idea of how precisely I feel right now.
I would offer legitimate criticism, but it would be ignored just like all the other people who write here. Actually, why do we even have these forums anyway?
Steam embeds images really small as to not take up too much space so the feature to resize and scale the image was really handy.
Whoever thought this was a good idea should be canned.
Log in again. if you dont exit steam it cant update.
Maybe the issue.

and yeah there was a recent update to friends and chat, check> if there is a green circle there update pending.
It's very unhelpful. I get that they want to monopolise and self-contain everything, but nobody wants to open their images with a steam window.
How is the op posting the image? Drag and drop or using a snipped image?
If you rightclick it and open in new window do you get the same?
I'd suggest to the OP of the image that is posted into messenger how the imaged is uploaded as the one linked shows broken link top left corner .
!00% of my images work fine.
I use windows snip tool to grab a screenshot and just paste into the comments box. Upload.
No need to even ave them.
Differences: Can no longer open url in browser and can no longer resize images in chat. (can still right-click copy url or open in new window, though),
also the friend tabs at the top have smaller images for who-knows-why and there's a lot of white space on the arrow on the right
Nothing wrong with the image posted, opens just fine in browsers, it even displays in the chat window. It's an imgur link generated by the sharex screenshotting tool. It does it with EVERY image I try to open from chat, and it's only when you click to open the image in its own window.
It's an imgur link generated by the sharex screenshotting tool. << what format does save as it needs to be png
But on steam if I don't send a picture after the print screen quickly (it works perfectly fine then) if I send an imgur link it works fine BUT if they want to click on the picture it doesn't load and shows what anarchy posted above ( https://i.imgur.com/WrFwnpl.png )
Of course if you right click in new window to open it it will open it, only steam's internal system can't access the image.
Why can't steam's image viewer open the imgur link separately? Is there even an image sharer in sharex that can open in this form on steam or is this a development bug that should be reported ?
