Screenshot issue
Recently upgraded to a dual 1440 monitor setup.
When trying to take in-game screenshots with the f12 hotkey it doesn't seem to work anymore.
Neither am I able to pull up the steam overlay. I tried changing the keybinds for this, but haven't been able to solve it yet.

Anyone has any experience with this and or how to resolve this issue?
Thank you in advance.

Are you positive that the screenshots aren't being taken? Because for quite some months now, the popup window that used to come up (even when you have the option ticked correctly) does NOT, and you'll have to go to the client window and click VIEW > SCREENSHOTS there to upload them.

If you're unsure whether they're really there, find the steam game ID number, and look in:

Steam /userdata / your number / 760 / remote / game id number folders <- among those will be folders with the game's screenshots and thumbnails. If the F12 key is not working, there will be no screenies from your recent attempts.

Quite certain they are not being taken. I checked the folder and last picture I can find is from 25th of january. I also tried unplugging one monitor and taking a screenshot then, but that also doesn't seem to work. Same with the overlay, just doesn't seem to work anymore. Very odd.

Only one thing I can think of, dual monitors?
When in game does the Steam overlay function at all on one screen when you use the Shift+tab?
Are you playng on spanned screen?
or simple dual monitors with different screens activity?
The screenshot F12 requires a default screen?
Which screen is default?
Look in Display and set 1 as default, the one that is connected to your gpu.
Not the onboard intel.

I've been playing with dual monitors for quite some time now and never had any issues with screenshots. Steam doesn't care much about any of this because it simply makes a screenshot of the game window, nothing more or less.

overlay functionality doesn't work at all. Not with single monitor, or dual monitor setup.

the screen is not spanned. Usually games on the right (screen 1) and all other tabs on the left (screen 2).

Display 1 is the display I play my games on, so that should be correct.

I tried switching some keybinds around, turning on and off the overlay function. But nothing so far.

Small update, for whatever reason the f12 screenshot functionality seems to work in other games. tried salt&sanctuary, and castlevania: lords of shadow and both were able to take f12 screenshots. But in Monster Hunter: World it just does nothing. So that makes me think it's more of a problem with the game itself. perhaps due to an update or something. I will post this in the Monster Hunter: World thread and see if anyone else has this issue.

And 5 minutes later. My friend figured out the issue was rather simple.
Somehow the overlay for only this game was turned off! So I turned it on again.
PRESTO! it works again.

Thank you for helping me out though! :mhwgood:

Awesome, that's actually a relief. Having seen at least one person whose screenshots from years back were gone forever, it's good that it was something simple.
