Racing / driving game with mouse support
Are there any racing / driving games besides those in Atari Vault that have support for mouse and keyboard? I'm looking for games with either a first person or a top-down perspective. So far they all only support gamepads and modern driving wheels. I have an awesome steering wheel that is recognized as an X-axis mouse that is great for classic arcade driving games but so far I can't find any compatible modem driving games.

I play ETS2 with mouse/kb. I actually only use the mouse to look and drive almost all with kb. AFAIK I'm one of the few that do that but you can use the mouse to steer in the game if you want.

Sadly there is almost none. I only know BeamNG.Drive, Live For Speed and Project Cars 2 but in the last one steering feels bad and default settings is even just non-playable so you need some tweaks.
If you want fun and street-like feeling go to BeamNG. If you want nice racing experience try LFS, if you want great aesthetics and atmosphere go for PC2. If you found some other games with mouse support, please let me know :)

Yeah, I've got to agree with audionysoss here, there aren't many racing or driving games that do this, as it's not a very popular method of control.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is one I've heard several disabled friends say is a good example, and I also am aware that BeamNG does it too. Project Cars 2, while a nice game and all, is an exercise in frustration as the controls are awful even with other methods. They need a hell of a lot of tweaking. I've no idea how the devs can drive with their default setups - all their previous games have suffered from crazy stupid default controls.

Sorry I can't say any more than echoing what other say here.

Not really tried any older retro games with mouse outside of MAME really.
Apologies for resurrecting this thread 2 years on...
I am also searching out driving/racing games with mouse support and this short thread has been helpful for at least the couple of games listed above.

Something to consider is MAME (as crunchyfrog mentioned), there are many racing games supported, Outrun, Buggy Boy, Super Sprint etc. and they all support Mouse steering.

I use an arcade spinner (mouse x axis)with a steering wheel attached and floor pedals and they work great.

Thanks. I've been playing those. I also play Omega Race which is almost like a diving game.

Assetto Corsa allows you to steer with the mouse and it makes drifting rather easy

Thanks.
