Serious Question. Are women really good at games?
I have been a gamer my entire life, and I have not met many women or girls in my lifetime that are excellent gamers, and most are average or below average in skill for the most part.

So the question is, do they suck at games or not?
In sports men dominate everything, period, but do Men also dominate gaming without contest?

I believe men are generally better when it comes to fast twitch gaming where adrenaline is involved, because those games mimic what men specialize in, in reality. Women tend to excel in the organizational skills with regard to games such as MMO type large scale detail oriented raiding and PVE stuff. Hardly will you ever see women dominating anything PVP without a core offensive group of guys needing a support role.
Use a massive game like League of Legends as an example.

How many LCS players are women? Zero.

What is the most common role played by women, Support and Top. The two easiest roles.
Support is not the easiest, its actually top lane, but, as a Support you will never carry a game, without a Mid, Jungler, or Top laner being able to also carry.

WoW is a huge game where you can take many examples of what roles and classes women play in that game. Mainly they play in PVE groups as brainless DPS, Healers, or Utility, and in serious arena PVP they are just not there.

So I would like to know, is this assessment of women accurate? If you disagree, why do you disagree, and what evidence do you have to back your perspective?

Also I have read stats about male and female gamers being about 52/48% almost even. Is this true? I think it is not true, and the majority of gamers and guys.

What do you think?

What kind of Question is that?

I've known some who are good at Games... But won't comment on their Names, though...

The Problem is, most, if not the majority of Games are indeed actually more popular to men,
& because of this are more focused over the Men Audience...

So Women are less likely to play them, & you are less likely to find them around...

However, this does not mean they don't play them, & def. doesn't mean some
you can't still find some who do actually play the same Games you do...

stereotyping is really stupid. Think about what you're actually saying. You're bunching 50% of the world into a box. Last time I checked we where all good and bad at random things individually. You could maybe discuss why higher % of males play at the highest levels of gaming than female. However to say women are inferior to men at gaming is absurd. I mean there will be plenty of women out there who will defeat you at a game you play, You've just not met them.

Also to comment on your sports logic. what makes you think so highly of yourself? I don't start leeching the accomplishments of cristiano ronaldo just because I'm male. I'm pretty sure female athletes would destroy you at their craft, no questions asked.
My daughter played and won a ladder comp for me at rank 4 on a css ladder and was mvp player at 13.

So damn proud.. go girl.

I want to respond with something logical but the misogyny in the OP is so thick it tastes of trolling.

I kinda agree.

OP.

  • Skill in games is based on the time spent playing games.
  • Skill in onme type/genre of game does not translate to skill in others. Just because you're a pro-tier STreet FIghter player doesn't mean you can handle a grand strategy or RTS game. Being good at platformers will generallty not help you in a BHS.
  • Not everyone discloses their sex online.

Basically your assumptions are so layered that if you got frag-stomped by someone in a deathmatch I have a feeling you'd assume they were guy unless given information otherwise.

I don't think thats the case, I think they only meerly meant to ask a Question,
& not focus on where are all the Girl Gamers at, I think they were just asking...

& not pointing fingers...

It is different when a guy is surrounded by Girls, & knows them...
But when you don't know them, & don't see them around...

You tend to start asking Questions? Not because you are not happy,
but mainly because you might be sad that you aren't seeing any of them around...

I am only guessing this is why the Topic was created? I am not trying to speak
for everyone here...

To answer the first question, it’s a serious question as stated in the OP.

It’s no secret that men created video games, not women, so of course games will be more geared toward guys and less toward girls.

I will however give massive credit to the musical compositions of some of my favorite games for Nintendo and SNES which were created by women, for example the Mega man X and Zelda games.

But again this is music not actual skill in gameplay.

No doubt women play games, but they don’t much have a hand in top tier competitive play or creation.

I wanted to create this topic because I think a lot of people would be interested in it, and wish to discuss it.

Call me a troll all you like, but you know it’s an interesting topic in general.

Many women dislike the immaturity of the online gaming community and don't care for how females are portrayed in video games and how females are treated by male gamers.

My girlfriend dealt with immature sexist gamers who couldn't handle a female beating them at video games.

I enjoyed playing fighting games against her, but she lost interest and her skills aren't as good as a result. She used to kick my butt at the first 2 Marvel vs Capcom games, Soul Calibur, and we had fun playing one of the Samurai Shodown games and Super Street Fighter 2 even though she felt all the characters I played were 'cheap.'

Is this actually true? Isn't the owner of Ubisoft a Woman, I actually don't know,
I just remember that Tom Clancy isn't around anymore, & had thought a
Woman had replaced them? Maybe i'm wrong, though, o_@

As for created video games, there are deffinately women who get into Art,
& I saw some videos on the News talking about Programming, too...

I honestly do not care who I Game with, it does not matter to me if a Girl is
better at a Game, or not... I don't care to keep score, & I don't care if
they want or don't wanna be friends... All I ask in return is for friendship,
to know who i'm speaking to, if they are guy or girl, & their age, because
I am interested in a Gaming Community I can make friends with, & quite
honestly do not wanna be friends with an Age Group that is no where
near mine... I am not a Person who just goes, & does stupid things on Mic.,
I don't act stupid, I don't trash talk, I don't make stupid Videos, do things
like Memes, or whatever you call them now days... When I Game, I prefer
to Game with people who actually know the Games, & know how Teams
work, & such... It's why I play certain Games, over other Games, because I
feel the Age Group Difference is very noticeable... o_@

My point is, there should be no reason we can't just all Game together,
there doesn't have to be a Competition of which group is better, these
are just Games, & nothing more, if you want Competition, then focus
more on World Events, such as ESports, & only Individuals, not mass
Groups of people...

It has nothing to do with Gender. Videogames dont care about that. You get good like in many other things if you try to get good. If not.. you are not.
There are bad Players from everywhere, Location, Age, Gender,.. it doesnt matter.
There are also good players from everywhere. It depends on how experienced they are.

You statement looks like based on life experience... but how many people have you even encountered yet?
100,.. 1000 ? ... 10000?.. still not enough to get a factual answer.
If you want a answer with real facts you have to ask a lot of people various questions about gaming,.. at least a number of 10 million to get a valuable answer.

My question to you is,.. do you even ask other players about their gender?.. and if so.. why?
Cause as far as i know.. it doesnt matter what Gender you have for playing Videogames. -.-
