Report a translation problem
Some don't despite having a meta score. As such, I'm wondering who controls its display because in steamdb, its addition and removal can be seen but does not indicate who does it.
Do you have a source for that? I believe you but there are those out there who think that it is entirely under Steam's control and Steam alone.
So valve does the technical portion but the decision whether to display or remove it lies with the developer or publisher?
They can choose to show it or not. It’s not a requirement it’s simply an optional feature on the page

A bit down the page is a video tutorial on how to set up a product page, around 5:25 in it is covering the basic details page that includes the field to fill in to link to the appropriate product page on metacritic if desired (don't think he specifically discusses it during that tutorial though).
