Ark Survival Evolved Taking 168GB on my hard drive

Hey, so I was going through all my files and I saw that Ark was taking up a 168gb of my hard drive. That's way to much. I aksed my friends who also have ark and they said that ark took up about 90 to 100 gb.

I'm wondering if I installed something or is it just how much hard drive space ark requieres.

I just went to install, and it is a 101 GB install, minimum as far as I can see.

Survival of the Fittest is another 40+ GB if you have that installed.

Ark is known for eating up hard drive space. Over 100 gb for ARK sounds normal to me. Ark mods, the dev kit, and DLCs installed will result in even more space being taken.

Ok, thanks, I do have all 3 dlc installed and I have a few mods. That's probaly why it has taken so much hard drive space.

Yes, it is stupidly huge. That's how big it is. It's a large, sprawling, *customizable* game - so ... particularly if you like workshop items, your install will be GIGANTIC.

Uncheck the boxes for the DLC you're not playing, save 60+/- gb. I'm running a LAN server with my wife with only Abberation selected. No issues whatsoever.

Look at the mods pages how big they are. Some are using a couple dozend GB on their own

After seeing this thread i decided to check just how much space mine was taking up these days. Seems its up to 194 gigs.

I have 29 mods, all 3 DLCs plus the 2 Free DLCs currently still on my System. Plus Base-Game of course.
That totals to 176GB worth of space on my Hard-Disk.

When you uninstall/unsubscribe from a mod, be sure to remove the folder from your mods folder.
An easier alternative may be to just deleve everything in the mods folder itself rather than hunting down the individual folders for each one you've removed, but you'll be redownloading/installing anything you're still subscribed to the next time they update or launch the game.

Maintaining a healthy cleaning of your mods every once in a while can help a lot.
Many mods wind up abandonded and stop working or you just stop enjoying playing with them, so be sure to clean out this folder now and again after you've unsubbed from mods.

With me it's about 137 ish GB, this is just the main game, all 3 maps included, without any DLC. or mods.

I agree, it's a bit too much imo. Mods or no mods.

This can't be case, otherwise they're practically givingg away the dlc and all it would take is a fmall hack to unlock it all.

You don't have the files for the maps themself, but obviously you need all the items and creatures from DLCs in case you run across them on servers where they have been transfered too
