Why is there no offical responses about the anime game bans?
There has been issues on Steam in which they have been banning anime games or putting them on perminant review hold. There is some evidence that suggests that it was some rouge employees who have a hatred towards eastern games that are doing this. My question is why Steam hasn't made any offical responses or actions towards this issue. Do they really care so little for smaller eastern developers?:bloodstain2::hp_kyanna:

Guys, i am against censorship too but do you really need to play loli porn VN on Steam?
The internet is full of this stuff if you want to play it, is this really a hill worth dying on?
"Why cant i play these porn games with underage girls on Steam???!?!?"
REALLY?
What astonished me is blindly taking the developers word on everything only because "they made anime game"

There's a difference between Rooting for the little guy, and blindly accepting anything they hand you no matter how many warning labels are plastered over it

Yes, and we know that. Unfortunately, often enough people don't look further than "big corp - EVIL!!!".

But you shouldn't be that astonished. It falls in the same category as "a youtuber said it, so it must be true". Don't know which thread it was last week, but it came up.

Aug yes the YouTuber told me comment.. maybe it's just a sign of today's age of social media, people perhaps want to be told what and how to think rather than looking at a situation objectively and coming to a logical conclusion
Just in passing, in the UK for example, Loli anime is illegal. No only is underage stuff illegal but anything that is deemed to depict underage is illegal. So a some anime and anime games are illegal in the UK. A large international company like Steam with a reputation to uphold HAS to pay attention to local laws if it wants to continue to trade worldwide. Not least of course becuase Steam has younger gamers.
To be honest with you, I am pretty shocked at how many Loli groups there are on Steam. I would have thought Steam would shut them down. These are the last people you want on Steam proudly advertising how sick they are.

Maybe the anime industry just needs to make their own store client, and keep their stuff away from Steam, GoG, and every other store.

Wouldn't solve the problem.. they'd still have to make the same c ompliances if they want to distribute anywhere but japan.

ohh yes the "two rogue employees" argument, ever think its these employees whos job involves sending out notices?
Ssssshhh. You know better than to bring up obvious answers in these discussions.

Well consider this. YOu've had decades of various media telling people exactly that.

It's always the scrappy team of misfits that's the good guys not the the team of well equipped, coordinated players that have been practicing day in day out for years.

It's always the rebels that are the good guys.

Corporations are nameless faceless bad guys almost universally, likely because of the Gestalt effect., and the need to project certain narrative patterns in western story-telling.
Can you stop using the "loli porn" argument for your censorship apologizing already?

The official response, as always, has been delivered to the affected business partner directly. Why are you entitled to it?

I suggest you watch the video included on the linked page certain characters in it especially the white haired green eyed one have the younger than acceptable appearence.

Also as has been said repeatedly its not enough for devs to call it an all ages version especially when they are adding the Nudity and Sexual content tags to it seeing as no games with those tags are all ages by definition.

The most likely reason for the bans is that those games probably depicted underage looking characters in sexual situations, which is illegal in some countries. Another reason I've seen brought up for the bans is the devs not being thorough or honest about the content in their games. When Steam made the update to allow sexual content on the store the update notes had this in it:
Our current thinking is that we're going to push developers to further disclose any potentially problematic content in their games during the submission process, and cease doing business with any of them that refuse to do so honestly.

If the reason for the bans is actually the latter that would mean the bans have less to do with the "underage stuff" and more to do with the devs just not properly disclosing what was in their games.
I don't think there's any way to know the official reason, though, so unless the official reason is made public all we can do is speculate.

And therein lies the rub. We only hear about it from one side.: the devs who are paraphrasing the statement they got from Valve.

first of all, I fear a world where that site is considered a credible source.. its like going to the national inquirer for your understanding of politics

and once again, Sexual Content is defined by more than just nudity and sex.. every aspect of the games presentation has to be taken into consideration, especially when it contains minors and if you look at the trailer several characters are clearly representative of someone under the age on consent..

not to mention often saying some things that have trouble when upheld to logical analysis..
It says a lot about a person's character when they argue against a companies decision to ban games which depict child sex. That sickness may be acceptable in Japan, but not in Western society. Get your head checked and grow up.

And then we'd get back to square one and 'Why aren't anime games sold on Steam?' adage

Besides you're considering it an unified 'industry' when it's far from it. There's as much of an 'anime industry' as there's an FPS one.

And last, what you ask for has existed for ages. People still wanted anime games to be on Steam (and now GOG is following them too) and bought them there regardless.
