Like I said, illegal in multiple countries.
Valve is also a US company and subject to US laws, in addtion to laws in other countries. So even if a country does allow it, then Valve still has to follow US law.
that is what i was saying, if it is illegal in your country (including US law) then the Geo filter should automatically not show it. like how games are blocked in china so chinese players cant even see that game. same with the age gate, before viewing the store page steam asks you to verify your age.
it is alot easier to only allow games that are allowed in US. Saves a lot of adminstrative work on Valve.
You are not understanding what I am saying.
Even if it is another country, Valve can't legaly sell such material as they still have to follow US law, since they are a US company.
Valve is a US based company, meaning even if they sell a product to a person in Cambodia (first country that popped in my head) they have to follow both the laws in Cambodia and the USA in regards to the sale, not just the region the buyer is from..
Same.
Won't work because they still have to follow US laws as they are a US company. Even if they are selling to in a non-US country.
You are trying to find a work around for something that it is not possible to work around.
Exactly. Just like some ads for products are restricted to magazines of that similar age group.
thats why i mentioned geo filters in the first place, if something is illegal where a player is then it simply wouldnt be show nin the store. unless you are saying for example if something is illegal in cambodia and cant be shown, players in the US cant see it either. thats what the filters are for and they already exist for places like saudi arabia.
that is the point i am trying to make
and im not talking about selling porn to minors im talking about selling it to adults and having it not viewable to people without confirmation that they are of age, like a payment method or a parents account as management
even if the Product is legal in Cambodia, Valve still has to follow US laws as they are a US company.. even if the product would be legal in Cambodia, Valve would still be unable to sell it if US law doesn't allow it to be sold..
same to you, it is legal to sell to adults and all they need is confirmation in US law, they wouldnt be breaking us law if they just filter it out for accounts that arent adults
That too can be solved by opening an external branch in a european country. But I assume it's a solution they don't want to resort to.
