Denuvo destroy solid-state drives
Some consumers have alleged that Denuvo Anti-Tamper shortens the lifetime of solid-state drives (SSDs) by writing an excessive amount of data to the drive. Denuvo Software Solutions claims that "Denuvo Anti-Tamper does not constantly read or write any data to storage media," calling it a "wrong rumor", since it doesn't perform read or write operations. Games with Denuvo Anti-Tamper state in EULA that "certain files of the anti-tamper technology may remain even after the product is uninstalled from your computer."

An issue with Denuvo arose in 2018 in the game Tekken 7, where Katsuhiro Harada, the director of the game, confirmed that it was indeed Denuvo which was causing drastic frame-rate drops in a recent update to the game, causing an outcry among the gaming community. Another issue with Denuvo appeared in July 2018 in the game Sonic Mania Plus. The developer Sega released a new update for Sonic Mania that features a new version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. According to legitimate users, this new change has caused massive framerate drops due to excessive hard drive writing.

After taking into calculation, just playing 162 hours of the games with the above DRM will result in going overboard with the warranties provided by companies like Seagate on their SSDs.

For those of you who are new, Deunvo is a DRM that continuously encrypts and decrypts itself so that it is impossible to crack. This has resulted in FIFA 15 and Lords Of The Fallen remain uncracked till now. But as it is being reported, the DRM is the cause of extreme load on SSDs and HDDs out of which the SSDs are more susceptible since they have a far limited number of write cycles.

This is the same DRM also used in games like FIFA 15 and Lords Of The Fallen. But what is not common knowledge is that the DRM might be causing hefty amounts of damage to your SSD(Even HDD) when you run a game with the said DRM. First uncovered by people at rpgcodex.net, and then picked up by /r/pcmasterrace, the original poster makes revelations that might not be good news for users:

- Wanna know average number of times parts of LotF exe code are fcked around between RAM and HDD in the span of one hour? 150000 copy/write iterations. That’s about 10000 times more than usual. DRM constantly decrypts the game code into the memory and encrypts it back.

- You might want to switch over to your hard disk drive with spinning iron plates instead of sacrificing the life of your solid state drive too early. I am waiting for the first complaints and lawsuits due to destroyed hardware caused by Denuvo.

It is also revealed later in the post that:

The game’s read\write operations per 40 minutes resulted in 30 GB of data processed. The number of operations done is insane. SSD’s wear level hasn’t changed though, however, the load is EXTREMELY high, so after, say, 100 hours of gameplay memory blocks will definitely start to wear down.

Got a link? So far, game code being decrypted thousands times per hour indicates high load on RAM, not disk. Same for gigabytes of data processed. No reason to assume its a write so far. Id like to read the original technical information myself, your summary is a non-sequitur.

"Allege" is not "true"

They lied in 2014

They lied again in 2017

They continue to lie now

If you don't like DRM that's fine. You're free to hate on it all you want.

But if you have to LIE about DRM, then maybe the problem isn't the DRM

tl;dr...

Not true.

Correct. This particular DENUVO "myth" has been disproven long ago.
And multiple times.

If i remember correctly there was at least one game which really did a few thousand checks trough denuvo....but that was caused by the developers which for some reasons made it do that

That's true. Those didn't eat the SSD though, they "merely" killed the performance.

There are a few, Tekken included. Denuvo causes performance problems if implemented badly. But that's also true for pretty much any other implementation of logic and is not limited to third party components.
