How come Valve haven't sued Apple over the Apple news Logo?
I mean, it's a blatant rip off of the dota 2 logo, it would be an open and shut case.

I can't even find hint of a statement by valve on it online, there is nothing.

Why?

Hm, the question being how you make more money.

Sueing someone like Apple to use a similar logo, or have everyone interested in the brand, meeting the requirements, asscociate the logo with your game... you obviously fell for it, and so will others. ;)

Coincidence?

Unless we are looking at different things, I don't see how they look alike.

Unless you’ve got cataracts and are nearsighted how do their logos even remotely look alike

I was trying Apple's new logo and wasn't getting any hits. :steamhappy:

Seems it isn't a new logo, but a new icon in their iOS for their News app.

It is also from 2016. Either Valve doesn't care or they discussed it with Apple already. They don't have to go making headlines about it.

Let's be real....Dota 2 isn't even on Apple's radar.

*edit* was too slow so deleted quote that wasn't necessary anymore.

Dota 2 might not be on Apple's radar as a game, but people using Apple's phones are on the radar of Valve. ;)

"Similar" is not a good enough reason to take legal action. If it were, we'd have a whole lot more monopolies.

Steam looks similar to other digital video game retailers.
Notepad++ looks similar to other text editor applications.
iOS looks similar to Android.
Facebook looks similar to other social media websites.
Google Chrome looks similar to other internet browsers.

The list goes on.

This is also why millions of "clones" of mobile apps are able to exist. They all look similar, they all function similarly, but they are not exact copies.

So people who want to read the news could be tricked to play dota 2 for hours before realizing?
And we havent even spoken about the dota players yet!

Just because there is a line and two dots as well, in pink though?

Can I sue someone for wearing the same shoes as me?

Clearly they're trying to steal my identity!

OP if this was a problem, Steam wouldn't said something two years ago.

Trademark infringement requires that a reasonable person would confuse the two brands in question and/or assume they were related. No reasonable person would confuse a news service for a video game (or vice versa), or assume they were related in any substantive way. There's not case here.
