Anime lovers are basically considered as fat-ugly-virgins because some people who watch anime are fat and like lolicon crap. The internet being what it is, saying that you like anime condemn you to be assimilated to this simplistic but easy to use definition that will make people refer to you as a "weaboo" or whatever is the exact term. The same behaviour can be seen for a lot of other things though.
The only reason I’d say I dislike is anime is that breast size and physics are way too unrealistic and over used, and that “At school new kid romance” is way too common. If there was an over abundance of anime like One Piece or even like Dragon Ball, anime would have more of a mainstream appeal, but from an outsider perspective it just looks perverted.
Unfortunately the anime fandoms have the very bad habit of either ramming it down other people's throats or throwing a complete fit if someone else is not into a specific anime.
I once wanted to check out Doki Doki because of its huge popularity, and some friends of mine said "Are you autistic? Delete that weeb ♥♥♥♥". I don't know what the fuss is about, i guess some people have deep hatred for most unimportant things.
