Hatred was removed from Steam. Completely reasonable as Steam did not carry Ao rated games then. It was subsequently restored, allegedly because Gabe Newell himself got involved.
People are overly defensive about their video games and "freedom of expresssion". Some ofthem are now imploring Steam to not release that game on their service, which akes to censoring - "if you're not on Steam you might as well not exist" still holds true.
I welcome that the dialog changed a bit from allowing everything without question to at least have a discussion about it. But don't be so hypocritic to be outraged over this mediocre at best game when the industry still produces blood and gore and stereotypic enemy images on a daily basis.
And don't turn on this one video game "becuase the humanity" if you are raging about politician doing the same. Especially don't turn on a video game as a factor for shootings in the US when you ridiculed it before.
Blocking this game has literally no effect at all on the situation in the US.
But oh no! Gays!!! My life is ruin, because.... Umm.... Because they're not straight, or because their pigment of their skin is not the colour of the superior race. <--- it's sarcasm if you're too dumb to get it.
Grow the **** up! If you got problems with people being straight, bi, or gay, then you got problems, and probably shouldn't be on the internet to begin with, just my two cents.
The active shooter seem like an interesting game, but let be real, how many games, movies, comics, tv shows do we already have involving schools, and guns? I don't see anyone complaing about movies, comics, and tv shows, only pinning it on games...
If people want to do something about school shootings in America, they need to stop this run around bs... Let give teacher guns, oh yea that's totally better... Let take the guns away, hmm not exactly going to change anything... Maybe check the staff, and student's mental health state, as that can help greatly on checking who has issues, maybe make sure students ain't getting bully, maybe don't encourage people to get guns at all, maybe focus what's going on in the schools... These are just some of the idea's to help reduce the chances of school shooting from happening.
-edit-
Had to edit a sentence because of phone.
and you really think they care about a single customer who has bought 22 Games in 8 Years
sorry to inform you , but steam really couldnt care less about someone like you
you really should watch cartoon wars (South Park) censorship is bad . if they dont allow this game because a few are upset , next some radical pacifists will get tf2 csgo and pubg banned , next the lol fans will get offended and valve will have to delete dota 2 , strife and smite and after some time there are no games left
also , i wont buy the game , but i am still happy games dont get held back by offended people or other things like that
then there could be no game about the crusades , or any historical wars
Now I wouldn't know the game about, as it could be completely different than just the small details alone on the store page, just going by that alone doesn't sound like you're giving it a chance at all, plus this is a virtual novel, pretty much a story.
Now when it coming to how you want to run your company that would be your own business, not anyone else, if Valve/Steam wants the game to be gone, they would have already declined it from the start, or removed it by now.
I wouldn't know what the person intent with this games, because none of us even knows the whole story of the game, and i'm not talking about store page, i'm talking about from start of the game, to the end of game, it's same idea behind reading the back of the VHS tape, or DVD case, and just judging it on that only without watching it, basically what you're doing. I'm not going to tell you that you're right, or wrong, it is your choice to choose what you want to do for yourself, but doesn't change what I said before.
"if Valve/Steam wants the game to be gone, they would have already declined it from the start, or removed it by now."
Look at that Active Shooter store page just got remove, it could be permanently, or only temporary.
Again. still not sure what the big uproar was. If Hatred and Postal can exist, why not that?
And yeah, how is it different from Hatred or Postal or You're a crazy guy murdering people who had the bad luck of being in your postal code. I mean Sensitivity aside, it smacks of internet drama to me.
Then again I recall similar things about games in the wake of 9-11., so I guess it's nothing new there either. Game where you;'re a white guy gunning down inner city black dudes - Fine., Assymetric game where you play as shooters and swat agents--bad.
Or maybe the issue is the "...who hunts down any remaining straights.". I know, I know, that doesn't fit your strawman, but let's be real here, if it said "who hunts down any remaining gays." you'd be singing a different tune.
Edit: Come to think of it, this might be a misunderstanding. I get the impression that you didn't read the game description and thought the OP had an issue with a game about gay people. But I don't think that is it, I think the OPs issue is that the game, in jest or not, says that it puts the player in charge of comitting genocide. Which would be unacceptable with any other group and should be unacceptable with any group period.
