New Wishlist "Add to Cart" vs. "View Details" inconsistent, broken, and deceptive
I've been notcing a problem with the new wislist and its implementation of an "Add to Cart" button instead of "View Details" where possible. I've read the blog post introducing the feature and I understand how it's supposed to work. The problem is that it's inconsistent and simply doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

For example take the game Bang Bang Racing. This game has no options or editions listed on the Store page. It doesn't even have any DLC. And yet it has a "View Details" button in my wishlist as if there are options from which I would need to choose if I bought it.

Similarly SkyDrift and Rez Infinite have "View Details" buttons despite having no purchase options other than a DLC. This might make me think Steam considers DLC to be an option even when it's a completely separate item from the main game (ie not part of some Bundle or Package) except that Quern - Undying Thoughts has an "Add to Cart" even though it also has one separately available DLC just like SkyDrift and Rez Infinite.

The problem exists in the other direction as well. Thumper, for example, gets a "View Details" button presumably because it's also available as a Soundtrack Edition Bundle, yet The Talos Principle has an "Add to Cart" button despite also being availagle as a Gold Edition Bundle, and War for the Overworld has an "Add to Cart" button depite having two possible Bundles (the Anniversary Collection and Underlord Edition).

I could go on but I think I've made my point. Now I'm not on of those people who begged for an "Add to Cart" button in the wishlist. I have no problem making one extra click to go to the Store page to put something in my cart. But if we're going to have that feature it should at least work correctly and consistently. As it is now the feature is worse than useless; it's actively deceptive.

I thought the "View Details" was for games with an age gate. At least that is what I have experianced so far, so I could be wrong.

Most the ones you mentioned also have a Demo version as well. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Not necessarily, according to the Steam Blog entry, it's there because games are sold in different versions (Deluxe, Soundtrack, GOTY etc.)

For example, some games have a Deluxe Edition or multiple Starter Pack options that make the offer more complicated.

I checked my Wishlist and definitely have this problem also for "What remains of Edith Finch", as there is also a Soundtrack Edition, yet i only have the "add to Cart" Button on my wishlist, not the "View Details" Button.

Same with Kingdom Come: Deliverance. There's a Bundle with the OST + Artbook, yet i only have the "Add to Cart" Button on my wishlist for that title.

So it does indeed seem to be a little inconsistent.

Maybe it depends on whether it's a deluxe edition or a bundle.
